i remember the time when WotLK was released and warcraft logs doesnt exist... is it really that much matter of context...
Post them in their own category away from the ”normies”? Having to scroll to another page to find someone similar that didn’t cheese for how you can do better is kinda cringe. Rather than, oh I need 4 more lusts
Hysteria*
Method 2, rogues should be incentivized to do the correct thing
Should have regional filter defaults. No one cares to sift through all the cheese Chinese logs that ultimately inflate the top parse spots.
idk I felt like people with more than 2 lusts should have had their logs invalidated. I think anyone with more than 1 tricks or frenzy should also have their logs invalidated. Should be based on rotation execution than how many buffs you get.
I say wink wink attribute the damage to the person giving the buff in all of WoW so I can get the increase I give through chaos brand added to my totals.
I would always prio teamplayers, as that is what raids are about, so method 2, even though it is the method most prone to abuse. Which bosses will be parse "cheese"?
External buffs certainly pose a challenge for the parsing community. Hopefully, the Warcraft Logs team can leverage knowledge from the Final Fantasy Logs side of their organization. FF Logs uses three metrics for parses (rDPS, which is similar in spirit to Method 2 in this article; aDPS; and nDPS). The rDPS metric is typically the default, or standard, metric most people in the FF parsing community reference, but the other metrics are always calculated and readily available. I would advocate something similar for Warcraft Logs: calculate multiple metrics and choose one as a default but show all of the metrics and calculate parse rankings for all of them.A caveat is that the metrics used by FF Logs wouldn’t necessarily be easily transferable to Warcraft Logs. This is mainly because the external buffs in FFXIV are of the flavor of Wrath Tricks of the Trade and Unholy Frenzy; thus, it is straightforward to assign a value to these buffs. For details on the FF Logs metrics, see: https://articles.fflogs.com/help/a-guide-to-r-dps-n-dps-and-a-dps#what-are-rdps-ndps-and-adps.
As a rogue who likes to get a nice 99 in every fight, I see the 2nd method as the only real option to avoid players to ignore an important raid buff mechanic. Unfortunately, players need a personal incentive to do the right thing for their raid teams.
Method 2 makes the most sense, but at the very least all three numbers should be available imo.
#2 is by far the best. Cheese fight parsing is still relevant to others from that class, and everyone else looks at their own class's ranking. It's also the only solution that incentivizes using it for the raid's overall gain in most scenarios, therefore it's the one that WCL should choose. Like it or not, WCL's decision here will have a massive impact at all levels of raiding in Wrath, because logging is just a given at this point.
Method 3 should be the choice they make. Neither person receiving an increase to their parse would make the most sense. The amount of energy they lose for casting it will cause them to do less personal damage, but putting ToT on the highest damage in the group will make the fight shorter, therefore essentially having the same rough effect on the rogues parse as having that extra energy.
Method 3 is the only real way. The other two methods are all about cheese and will continue to make logs as nothing more than a big joke that only a few socially inept outcasts care about. If a Rogue really, truly cares about their own parse that much, then don't Tricks. If that means getting kicked off the team, find a parsing guild. But the whole cons section of this article seems to just revolve around Rogues. Not a good argument for WCL cheese.
Door number four. Warcraft Logs gets off their asses and finally quantifies the utility aspects of the game to ensure that rogues not using their Tricks of the Trade is punished, along with mages who don't de-curse, and all the other examples of parse mentality incentivizing players to ignore class mechanics because they don't show on the meters.Yes, I know it's never going to happen, but until it does all the meters in the world are just navel gazing.
Tricks of the Trade should be nerfed that's why Rogue in Wotlk is EVERY top tier, remove the +15% damage and make Unholy Frenzy for the Dk only.
God I hate the selfish mentality of players these days. WoW is an MMO. A team game. When I ran a guild or even when I was just a member in one with a consistent team, the priority was ALWAYS what would benefit the team. Gear? Priority to who it's the biggest upgrade for. Padding? That's a paddling. The game is to kill bosses as a team.Selfish mentalities are the bane of not just WoW but society as a whole.
Just to add to my answer: #2 cheesing is going to happen anyway since both classes can cast an AoE, so it really doesn't matter at all.Only thing at stake here is "are rogues/DKs going to cast this ability or not?" and for #1 and #3 they won't since it harm their parses. My opinion is that they should, since it is good gameplay and it should be encouraged.
