Yeah these addons are gonna get broken.
Crazy to think that the worst two things to come from 10.1/10.1.5 (Augmentation Evokers and Private Auras) are the only reason why this ended up becoming an actual issue.I hope Blizzard draws a line with overlays, and specifically overlays, right away.
Blizzard intentionally updated the API to disable this kind of functionality in the past. It's pretty dang clear what their stance is on this. Also, allowing data to be scraped from the game and use it in real-time probably makes it easier for botting software to go undetected.
yea this is cheating if anyone in my guild uses this i will be writing a formal letter of resignation. not going to stand for this
If a game requires out of game tools to be playable, you know there is something wrong with the game.Does anyone at blizzard raid without addons? Or do they know raids at the highest level are nearly impossible to do without addons because the UI is so badly designed for that?
If this remains possible on live and isn't a ban risk, I still wouldn't use it. I prefer not to have the extra clutter on my screen. I don't care in the least what is possible with third party software or what people do with it if it isn't hacking the game to make their abilities do more damage per use or make them zoom around like they have god mode enabled.
Honestly one time I can agree with Tomrus. Addons have been core part of the game since launch, people need to fully accept and embrace them. Game is indeed much better with them. These kind of overlays are the same thing pretty much.
Oh god why did you have to post this. All the crazies that are against addons in raiding are gonna go insane over this.Addons are fine in raiding, you can raid just fine without them, I mythic raid without them without even being at a disadvantage.
Maybe the solution is to get rid of the ability to advance combat log.
I hope this %^&* is stamped down on before it makes it to live, but good grief some of the takes on this.
This is already very much against ToS.
People saying don't design around cutting edge seem to have forgotten there are 3 whole difficulties below mythic. As a mythic raider I relish difficult fights, I find heroic and below extremely boring. However I do agree that fights that depend on weakauras as much as Nelly need to be looked at so it doesn't happen again if private auras are going to be a thing. Half of mythic progression for that fight is weakaura progression
It's not just Raids, but Arenas would be affected as well. Think being able to detect where enemy stealth targets are located.
At this point, more is to be lost fighting this than allowing it. Just remove all restrictions on auras and design reasonable fights that do not need them.
