I'm saddened by the combination that every building in the horde garrisons will be orc themed instead of the gorgeous architecture of the other races (Like tauren, troll, or SPECIALLY blood elf) and the fact that the horde garrisons will be stuck in Frostfire ridge. I was hoping for Nagrand or Talador.
A lot of people seem saddened by the announcement that Garrisons will be in starting areas--however, there was a super-recent tweet that they might move when you reach Tier 3!
That's great news =)
Since space will be limited in the garrison I wonder if we will be able to tear down a building or replace it with something else if we decide we dont need it any longer or if we just want to try something different.
Zarhym is working on a Garrisons blog so we might get more details Soon (TM) about the buildings. He tweeted about a first draft, so it might be some time though.
I hope garrisons aren't only orc themed, I hate orc buildngs since Warcraft III
I read somewhere that the buildings and upgrades are not permanent, so although you can't have everything all at once, if you decide to go with something else, the option is there. The only question is: if you replace a tier 3 with something and then want to go back to it, will you have to start from scratch for that building? I'd assume they would do something like that, as they do with guild rep being reset if you are out of your guild for too long (as I found recently on an alt).
I can tell that the Large Plots are going to be a tough decision. Do we improve our followers/defenses (Armory and Barracks, Workshop, and some of Stables for faster missions)? Or do we provide Quality of Life improvements for us (Mage Tower for the portals; Stables for faster mounted speed)? We can only select 3 out of 5, and the order in which we select them is going to matter (i.e., we can apparently only select one at each stage of upgrading our entire garrison.Same thing with the Medium Plots. I want the Trading Post (gold!) and Inn (recruits and kitchen!). The Barn sounds useful, too, to my "gatherer" main. But then there's the Sparring Arena (raise followers' levels, I'm guessing?). And the Lumber Mill (which speeds up erection/upgrading of the buildings, I guess). The Small Plots, honestly, take the least amount of thought. Salvage Yard (trash turns into Material; Material turns into Gold) and Storehouse (get up to 7 days of storage with production buildings), and whatever production buildings match my alts' primary professions. (In the case of my gatherer main, I would just select whichever two seem most convenient.)
So, apparently, I'm the only one who likes the way orcish buildings look... >.>
Am I just blind? I can't find where the original announcement was made that garrisons would only be in starting zones. I only see reaction tweets about it. When was this said? Last I knew there were "several zones" they could be in ('least that's what they said in November)?
Garrisons in starting zones--we also rounded them up in a news post earlier today: http://cuckhead.com/news=235843/news-roundup-patch-5-4-7-hotfixes-wowcrafts-ep3-azeroth-choppers-significant-tweWe'll be adding some more polish to the tool for sure. Right now we're keeping it simple as we get the remaining art/descriptions in but the reset/upgrade options are great ideas.
Kinda disappointed that garrisons are tied to only one zone each and will probably only be orc/human themed. I'm still really excited for them regardless and hopefully they'll add different race themes in the future.
While I like the Orc and Human structures, I too would love to see more variety.
This finally great i can now Build something :D
Certainly looks nice. I expect there will be way more to this once Garrisons get fleshed out a bit.
Really, there's a unique space just for the pet menagerie? Screw that...I'd rather have that be optional.
