This sounds horrible and basically kills my desire to play one. A new race that can’t wear armor? Completely absurd.
The ability to change body shape shouldn't just be a Drackthyr only option. All the races need to be able to fully customize their look. On a totally different note, this race is going to be just like Worgens. No one ever sees a Human Worgen. There was an addon that would allow you to auto-shift as soon as you started casting and were in combat. Once you dropped combat, you shifted back. Blizzard implemented a fix that prevented the addon from working.
I really want to play this class but never been a fan of ranged because of how uninvolved in the fight they feel. I guess Ill have to wait and see when beta is available.
Not making armor work on them is a bad choice. Being locked out of mogging on a race is lame. And you know they're not going to keep adding new dracthyr armor to the barbershop. And being like 'Oh, but you can mog on your humanoid form' is so dumb. How many worgen players spend all their out of combat time in human form? Dracthyr players are going to mainly play as dracthyr and not having access to mogging. Feels bad.
To everyone who thinks that "Ho but it is ok if they cant be in mortal form in combat, its like worgen." and "Ho but what you expect? To tank without a shield lul" Frist of, i will say that not being able to be in human form as a worgen IN COMBAT is totaly anti rp, because it removes you the choice to fight as a hman and actually have the rp to control your worgen transeformation in time of needs, like when you use big cds or get into execution phase AND i add that this is what Greymane do, he can fight as a human and turn into worgen when he gets very angry or use special abilitites so the argument that "ho but its normal for rp that worgen cant be human in combat" that is actually anti rp....Now about the "Ho but you want to tank without a shield lul" dude, i already tank totally naked because my mogs are all hidden what is the thing with this? >< and it is not about gameplay it is about cosmetics so this arguement dosent work either Now, the dracthyr is a worse case than worgen because, when the worgen in human forms are identical to humans in term of customizaitons, the drachtyr have unique humanoid forms and to add the fact that most armors wont show up in dragon form it means that you wont even see msot of your armors in combat and then waste most of the special animations they have (T13 shaman shoulders for exemple). And we all perfectly know how this will end up, exactly like worgen, people will just be too lazy to press the button to be human again everytime and will just remain as dragon 100% of time....I think that the dracthyr should have the option to always be in human or dragon form everytime, in combat as well as out of combat, BUT will turn into dragon for the usage of some aiblities that require it like the ones which require you to have wings, just like the demon hunter when thety use eye beams turn intoa demon form for the duraiton and then reutnr to normal, it should be same for Dracthyr who use their mortals forms in combat and use specific abilities which require for exemple their wings to work OR they can have wings on their back but still in mortal form and do the abilitites same way/
I really really hope the difference in body types is noticeable. There is a great post on Reddit by Potatoandbacon who shouts out ThunderBrush for doing a proportion and shape correction to the revealed model. I'd love nothing more than that to be adapted to the customizable options. The thicker neck, larger hands and feet, wing reshape, and updated torse shape still hit all targets for keeping a smaller model in general but make them look more threatening and dragon-like. The current slim model is basically a female worgen with scales. The model reskin worked well for ztroll boomkin form on account of the feathers, enlarged hands, and the armor but it just doesn't work that well for me here. I think some may like the slim model, so I am not saying to completely remove it, just add the ThunderBrush version as maybe a mid-bulk level and add the big bulky version from ddayart as the big hefty version.
Really wish we could use the Human/Visage form in combat, with maybe a handful of abilities temporarily shifting to Dragon form (like the Onyxia flame breath).I mean it makes RP sense they'd combat in dragon form, but dang I just like the human look better. And I think the visage customizations look awesome for them so far.It does sort of kill my desire to try one out. Not trying to be extreme, but it's true. Oh well, not a race for me I guess. I haven't really tried Worgen or other shapeshifters so maybe there'll be enough out of combat to make it ok for me. Seems unlikely though.
Still awaiting the 'you can pick any race' statement for the humanoid form :pPlease?
"You can even slightly change your torso to be like slightly more slender or slightly bulkier"This doesn't mean what you guys think it means. He used the word "slightly" three times. We are talking an almost unnoticeable difference, not gigachad levels of bulk. Also sad, the race wont be able to equip armor for some reason. Idk why not. Worgen can wear armor.
Yes, more bulk and Im happy. I want my dragon to look intimidating. Not yogafitnessdragon. Would be so great if they change the stance of male Dracthyr when in human form (Blood elf form), to not look a typical Blood elf male. I understand that choosing the same build saves dev time but come on, some difference on the animation please.
This new race/class seems very underwhelming.
Not gonna lie. I am NOT happy by the fact they are arbitrarily locking female players from using the Blood Elf model, and forcing them to use human and doing the same to males but disallowing human male. As my namesake might say, I rather liked the story in UBRS with Vaelen / Vaelestraz. Frankly I feel like this is Blizzard trying to avoid adding anything that cisgender or straight people might prefer. I say that because there is honestly no legitimate reason to otherwise break the mold and not allow players a visage that is either female elves or male humans. Dragons and Dragonkin last I checked were not so limited and could be Gnomes, and other races as well. But ya know.. Suspending anything else though it's kind of funny to see how little the other crowds truly care for equal treatment. Rather makes one wonder if they ever truly wanted that, or if they really just wanted supremacy from the get go. I say that because all of the usual crusaders for LGBT causes are like "Oh your craaazy! This is FINE!". Nope. It's not. As some dudes on the WoW forums and reddit have said, we all know said people would be mighty salty if the Visage options were "Goblin Males and Blood Elf Females". Imagine if Worgen had offered females only the Kul'Tiran models for their human form or vice-versa. It's the same issue, and it likewise would and should be unacceptable. I'm equal opportunity in my style. Brutally so. So my stance is that if you give men one thing. You damn well better give women the exact SAME thing.Plus wasn't Blizzard supposed to fix their problem with women. Kinda nutty that their great solution is to give a very popular model to the men, and then intentionally use a less popular one to the women, while also then prohibiting both from using the logical other one? Sure is coming off like it's alright for women to be treated like they are second class considerations, at least when it's done by a Developer with a preference and attraction to men.I think Blizzard needs to do the right thing and give male humans and female elf visages to Drak'thyr. Simple enuff. The replies to this should be amusing to see. Double standards and all that.
Calling it now: The amount of customization will be so few that it will be boring as hell after 2 weeks. The fact that i cannot transmog gear on the dragon form completly took every bit hype i had for the new race out of me. No interest in the visage form. Just another elf.
Shame they can't at least have bracers/wrists & "boots", something around the ankles like Tauren & Trolls I mean. I don't see why they can't have pants either?
Torso badly needs to be bulkier.
