Biggest problem I have with this is that they're ruining Yrel. I wouldn't mind this development if Yrel was not involved, but she was one of the few good things from WOD and the Draenei desperately need more major characters. I would have liked if she led a resistance against the Lightforged/Lightbound, and escaped to Azeroth to join the Draenei there.
There's not light without dark; and vice versa. This is the example of what would happen if we manage to erradicate all evil on Azeroth; a cruel reminder. And I'm rooting for the Mag'har; they are the natives after all; an invasor alien species has no rights to rule Draenor. FOR THE HORDE!
This story doesn't make any sense.Grom as warchief? Have the orcs forgotten that he wanted to eradicate all people who opposed him, including other orcs like the Frostwolves and the Shadowmoon? The Frostwolves rebelled against him because they thought what he did was insane.Draenei as blind fanatics who enslave other people? They first hand know that such things are evil - that is why they oppose the Burning Legion. What would distinguish them now from man'ari if they use such tactics? Why would Yrel end up in such a way? Why would the draenei see Naaru as their masters instead of teachers as it was always shown? Why would the Naaru use the draenei to enforce the Light on other people? What of Nobundo? In WoD it was implied, that he would become a shaman. Wouldn't that be something that brings the orcs and draenei on Draenor together? It also makes zero sense now that the mag'har can become priests and mages; orcs never learned magic from the ogres, they had their shamanism, and they never had priests besides those that have been forced by Grom to use the void for war.Wouldn't it make more sense if draenei and orcs worked together and the orcs learned arcane magic and the ways of the Light from the draenei while the draenei, lead by Nobundo and Drek'thar, learned the way of the shaman?I could understand if there was a splinter group of draenei that act similar to the Lightforged and are fanatics, and I could also understand if there was a splinter group of the orcs who use the void (pale ones are something of a proto-Twilight Hammer after all) which wage war on Draenor and the draenei and the orcs are caught in the middle, trying to preserve peace and fighting together - which is, I think, a better story Blizzard just $%^& out, and I've come up with it in just a couple minutes. It also explains why the orcs have mages and priests, which wasn't really explained before and which is made even more complicated by that sorry excuse of a story from Blizzard. How much does it pay to be a story writer for Blizzard? I'd make it for half wages so this game could get a decent story..
As I see it this is just a lazy way to portray mag'har as heroic (Despite everything they did in WoD) and to avoid having a to deal with AU Yrel, draenei and Garrosh. I didn't expect to find anything I would like in that scenario yet somehow i'm still disappointed about those lines. As for this:
*slams open door*"No one expects the Draenic Inquisition!"
I dont think its the writters fault here.I think Ion just told whoever is responsable to make it work how he wants it aka fit the story for the game not the game for the story.Which WoW was like that since it was first launched in 2004.That's why lore looks !@#$ed up , mixing in-game events with the story.Anyway , if you cant see it tough luck. They want to make players see that Light and Void are just 2 forces that recruit followers to fight another and thats how it should be seen. Both Light and Void seek mindless followers. One stomps you into obedience aka the Light and the Void is manipulating the weak. The biggest difference being......the Void rewards the strong with more power , the Light does not accept the strong because they cant be put down or manipulated. You can see how all Light worshippers are a bunch of mindless fanatics , Uther , too........the Light there and Light that , the Light here.Ofc the Void fanatics do the same but atleast you can kill them.....while the Light worshippers are safe from your onslaught that they deserve.
This is what happens when they hire a writer from Deviantart to write the story, my god. Why not, you know, help cleanse the remaining demons? Defeat a powerful demon commander that survived, killed off most of the world, and threatens to end Draenor? I'm not surprised Yrel became a villain since her story in WoD was absolute garbage anyway (and she's the reason the ONLY relevant draenei died. RIP Velen and Maraad), but this is just really stupid.
Boy these comments derailed rather quickly. You guys are something else. Back on topic - am I the only one bothered that Durotan and Draka have a girl version of Thrall and Durotan is killed by the Light? They brought Christie Goldman on to write for them this expac, right? Do we know if she had a hand in this? Folks at Wowhead... any insight on this?
How many people are ignoring the part where Geya'rah tells us that the Naru compelled the Draenei towards their current actions. I am thinking the AU Naru have pulled a Xe'ra style compulsion on the Draenei and pushed them into actions they wouldn't have done otherwise.
Insecure Alliance are raging. Relax, its AU Draenei, not the MU. Its very easy for them to be misguided without Velen, Yrel was a prominent character but comparing to Velen, she's stinky $%^&.We've seen enough "pocket" evil alliances. Now we're going to see a former "faction" of the alliance getting full evil, and you people cant take it? Deal with it, its blizzard's game and they'll decide what to do with their stories. Don't like it? Very good, go unsub your game and leave forums/wowhead/mmochamps.
Seriously, i can see, understand and agree with only one of all the complaints expressed here: All this time-traveling/alternate-universe thing is stupid and flawed.I really like the general outlines of what they seem to be doing, but absolutely hate it that they're doing it on AU-Draenor (and all of its implications).
