There have always been overpowered items that are massive for every class (most recently Sylvanas daggers, Jailer Weapon, Raz bow, certain trinks). Everyone has at one point suffered through it. That being said, they could do my favorite, the bad luck token like at the end of Shadowlands, buff the drop rates of very rare items like they did, or maybe increase loot drops in general.
Nobody *needs* this legendary. Nothing is tuned with this legendary as 'expected' or 'required'. You're going to be fine without it. The only people who even need to consider having it as remotely mandatory are the absolute top level Evokers pushing M+ and competing with other Evokers on the 0.5% leaderboards who might have it. In that case I can see an argument, but that's such a small percentage of players. The problem isn't the item, the problem is the mindset of players *needing* the absolute BiS gear. Outside of the aforementioned group, there is nobody who *needs* this thing. Same goes with the Diablo 4 chase items. They're an additional bonus on top of your character, not your character's defining gear.I hope Blizz sticks to their guns with chase items as much as they can.
What a worthless article.
I firmly believe that everyone should be able to pursue a legendary no matter what "level" of the game they are playing at. There's something exciting and rewarding about earning a legendary, and that path should not be dependent on RNG. Bring back long and thoughtful quest chains and whatnot, as at least that allows players to start the path, continue the path at their own pace, and eventually reap their reward. After our experiences with Shadowlands and BFA legendaries (accessible by all), there is no reason to go back to methods of acquisition that are limited to 1) class, and 2) RNG. (But for real, I don't see how there's a shortage when that dang emote goes off every 5 minutes x.x)
As a guild mom seeing every Evoker in my guild get so tired of playing the game they don’t want to play…then hop over to Diablo, see it’s the same BS, and then quit Blizzard games, it’s a problem. No really the chances being so astronomically low is actually a problem. We’ll never be mythic raiders, we’re casual. But so many of our players have lost motivation that our dps in Heroic is suffering. Our evokers sit there and debate even trying this week as they see people in trade chat spamming the evoker leggo notification. It’s damned discouraging. I actually have to agree with Max here. I don’t think anyone is suffering from the drop rate more than the casual players who aren’t getting invited to raids because they don’t have that leggo. That’s the thing these days. Even if you pug someone is deciding between you and some evoker who got lucky. Who do you think they’ll pick?
Don't design the game to around degen behavior. Drop rate is fine.
Where did this sense of entitlement even come from? Yes, legendary items like this are going to be rare. Yes, some people will get lucky and have it drop for them right away while you try for weeks with nothing. Get over it?
I've always held the stance that these sort of items (and mounts) should be Mythic exclusive with a guaranteed drop chance . But I know that doesn't appeal to most people these days. Honestly, at this point Blizzard might as well just add a badluck protection to it. Enough people have it now where if you don't have it, you are behind. It's not exactly something "special" at this point. While it's unlikely, the fact it can drop from LFR precludes any sense of "prestige" around it. Maybe after 5-10 kills (weeks) without a drop you get it guaranteed. Old school legendary items don't have a place in WOW anymore. I would personally love for them to still do things like Atiesh, Tarecgosa staff and Thunderfury but that design won't fly. Introducing these items, while cool and true to the RPG nature of the game, creates a performance gap that most people don't enjoy playing around. The fact is, many people are driven by damage meters and warcraft logs to care about the "RPGness" of these items. This is why things like PVP gear aren't locked behind rating breakpoints anymore, while it was "cool" to see someone with their gladiator head, shoulder and weapons, it was a level of friction that deterred people from wanting to participate because they lifted off at a disadvantage. Just like the days of old of recruiting a warrior without Thunderfury, assuming equal skill, why would you recruit an Evoker who doesn't have Nasz'uro.
All the people saying this legendary should be rare are clearly either:
lol this rant post about a legendary that player thinks they need to play their class max.AHAHHAHAplayer make me laugh somedays.Outside the lore part, u dont need the legendary. As a Hunter i was never lucky to get any of the 2 legendary bow on the game, and i been top or top 3 dps on my guild always. And we do Mythic cleans. That mean u need to learn to play your class better. Also my best friend is playing a Evoker right now and he is kicking everyone ass w/o the legendary. So yeah this post is totally just to rant.
This isn't *just* a problem with Nasz'uro. No rogue liked farming Sylvanas daggers or glaives back in the day, no #$%^ing hunter has enjoyed farming any of the 3 bows, !@#$ the litany of rare drop trinkets every %^&*ing patch. This level of RNG for BIS loot has got to #$%^ing go. It simply doesn't respect the amount of time put in, and if you're unlucky enough, you've been repeatedly stuck not getting a valuable item during the season it's valuable every god damn season. Someone is always going to be below odds, and with a large enough sample size, someone's going to be below odds 80% of the time or more, and it feels like absolute &*!@ing trash.
You forgot these two (maybe more?) Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros & Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian. It may be interesting data to note which raid sizes and difficulties each legendary was available in.
Another part to add to the last section about acquisition: While you do have to have commitment to raid to get the Cracked Titan Crystal to drop, once it does, it's PERSONAL LOOT. This means you can't even designate which Evoker gets it when it drops. Cleared heroic Sark every week and it hasn't dropped, then someone brings their alt evoker for their first heroic Sark kill and they get it? Oh well! Personal loot says that's how it goes. I know if I were in either player's in that situation, I would feel awful.
Why don't people just make the legendary? Thast what I did, it was a bit time consuming but faster than hoping it drops unless they're not the same item.
Rae'shalare, Death's Whisper - Personal Loot (Regular Loot Pool) < fix this one, was a nightmare to get and took me 17 weeks to finally drop only 3 days before the patch to drop. I had zero use of it during season 2 and only in S4 when they recycled content did it come back around.
I might be the 1% here. But having legendaries be SUPER rare like let's say the mounts that have <5% drop chance. Is how it SHOULD be. I miss back in vanilla where one person on the server might have a legendary. The only people on the server that had epics were the ones who actually did raid bosses with an established guild.Having something SOOO unique to where maybe only one person has it just gives that item the value it deserves. When you start giving every Evoker the ability to get one, then there's no specialness to it. Sure it's power? But a H weapon or mythic+ wep is just as good then.
I prefer this return of Legendaries.Items that you can't really farm-farm. You rarely see them and they're powerful and when someone has one you go "Oooo!"And they also tied this to lore. That's awesome. I hope they CONTINUE doing this.
