I feel like "prove your worth" would be entirely dropped later on in the expansion with just a "rebuild our trust" staying in 9.1, 9.2 or so. Doesn't make sense that we'd even need to prove our worth. We often help other covenants also, it makes me wonder if more people will just do weekend/monday raiding. since this is supposed to be all the systems of the xpac, I assume they will just add on to it all, so I feel they should probably add another ability to all specs in 9.1/9.2 then again in 9.3? For all different situations. Finesse, Defensive, damage. That way they all will sort've cover some grounds in a way , even if they share the same method another class uses an ability. doesn't need to be entirely unique for every spec, would be nice though. We got it for azerite traits and other things. Then people would be much happier to stick by their choice of covenant. Currently it's problematic mainly because of multi-role classes as well or just they simply don't need the ability for one spec but do for other specs. Some are just plain bad buttons to ever hit for some specs that you really don't even want to use it, yet amazing for another spec or one form of content, as if they don't expect people to do multiple forms of content. If they alleviate that in some way, people wouldn't really care about swapping covenants freely all the time. It just looks terrible at launch, as per usual while they wait until a later patch to fix a problem.
Every single thing I read about shadow lands only makes regret purchasing the expansion :/Seriously, so far the ONLY thing I liked is the new customization options, literally nothing else, even bfa had me hyped before letting me down.
Seems like a great system to me. If you change your mind you can switch with very little effort. Alright, I'll let you all get back to your weekly covenant freak-out.
if they remove the step 3... this system can actually work and be totally reasonable
Its not about being able to change covenants easily or not blizzard god fin dammitITS ABOUT PICKING THE ONE YOU WANT, NOT BECAUSE ITS THE BEST IN DPS BUT BECAUSE YOU FIND IT COOLER.As a DK being forced to go night fae in order to do anything HL just infuriates me to no end, this system is a mess. They wanted to do subclasses they just made the game worse.
I wouldn't mind them removing the weekly reset in favor of a stacking requirement like in azerite reforging, with a weekly/daily decay or something. First time you're coming back? Prove your worth x1, rebuild our trust x1. Second time? Prove your worth x2. That or have a renown decay when you leave a covenant, although that could get grindy. The system doesn't really punish occasionally swapping covenants, and instead punishes those who want to swap every day, which is not really how the system is intended. If the decay worked well, it wouldn't punish too badly if you sought out what wowhead implies, switching every now and then.
I like this system, but stop changing it every 2 weeks because part of the community refuses to stop complaining, they keep spamming "blizzard be like: you think you do but you don't " but the truth is they think they represent the entire community but they are not.No matter what Blizzard does they will always complain because they only think about themselves, accept that this system is new and stop wanting to make it look like a system that already existed.
whos ready to be one covenant for raid and another for mythic plus pushing? and do all this to flip flop in between? *!@# YEAHHHHHHHHHHH WOW IS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
The choice of covenants should not be changeable easilly. And how many here of you are bleeding edge mythic raiders? Everyone qqing about covenants should take a deep breath, you do not need to be super optimal if you arent a super high end raider.
I don't think I'll be switching covenants anytime soon. Necrolords all the way!
If this is good or bad aside, is it just me or does this not align at all at how its marketed as a "fundemental decision that can not be changed" ? This seems way too easy if they really want it to be a meaningful decision.
Honestly, I wish they would just make it so you're stuck with soulbinds and the utility spell for a covenant of your choice, but then you can choose which Class ability you want, Would solve a vast majority of the complaints, whilst maintaining atleast some restrictions
Wait... You mean covenants aren't basically talents that I can swap out depending on which dungeon I'm entering? This is outrageous! I'm kidding of course I never expected something named a covenant (a word with an air of permanence about it) to be swappable at the drop of a hat. Time for people to start thinking of these as more of a sub-class type option than a talent type option.
Shame the system has to be this convoluted. This is going to leave a bad taste on anyone's mouth that ever wants to swap Covenants, even if just for the sake of trying or variety.
