We got our first look at Ny'alotha, the Waking City's raid environment, with the launch of the raid testing today. We've gotten to see an open area of Ny'alotha, as well as inside a maw. These areas contain the encounter rooms for bosses 4 through 7.
Check out the updated Ny'alotha Dungeon Journal!
Video
Entrance
This is what you see when you first zone in. You're in a bubble and can look out into the distance.
Outside Bosses 4 & 5
It looks like you'll emerge into a wide open area after you defeat the 3rd boss. You start in a narrow corridor and can see a glimpse of what is to come.
After you exit the narrow corridor, you get to see a large part of Ny'alotha! The building on the left will contain
the Hivemind
boss and the building on the right will contain the
Dark Inquisitor Xanesh
boss.
After you beat the Hivemind and Xanesh, it's assumed that you can then move forward into the maw, which leads to further bosses in the raid.
The Hivemind Encounter Room
The left building when exiting contains the Hivemind Encounter Room. There are Black Empire Obelisks as well as some fungi-looking substance in the area.
Dark Inquisitor Xanesh Encounter Room
The right building when exiting contains the Dark Inquisitor Xanesh boss.
You may remember this room from the Development Preview, as it's the boss where Queen Azshara can be seen!
Cultist Sigil
In this area, there is also a Eye blocking the path. You can see a similar Eye in the Dark Inquisitor Xanesh encounter room, but right now there doesn't appear to be a way past it.
However, behind the eye are something called "DOODAD_CULTISTSIGIL" and have the
interact gear icon
on them. What could these be for?
Outside Bosses 6 & 7
You head down inside the maw and this area is filled with abberations.
There are three paths out of this area. Two on the way down and one at the bottom. The first stop is
Shad'har the Insatiable
and the second stop is
Drest'agath
.

As a member of a guild that only raids twice a week, I really hope that progression will be somewhat faster than EP, on a boss by boss basis. Bosses especially like Ashvane, Zaq'ul and Azshara were incredibly difficult fights to learn/master the mechanics. That said, this raid looks like it might be one of the best raids of all time. I just hope there are no fights with mechanics like Azshara. Just too many mechanics honestly with almost no room for any error.
I LOVE that there are 12 bosses, but holy crap, I wonder how we will get any time to practice on the latter bosses in this raid if they all take a while to learn.
My guild got through radiance really easily, but Ashvane onward has taken us quite a bit of time. I know we aren't some spectacular guild, but I do feel like we are fairly representative of most casual raiding guilds.
My guild raids twice a week for 7 hours total and we’re 6/8M likely to get the zaqul kill this coming week. We’d definitely skips though. Wouldn’t complain if they were added to BoD either.

So, Ny'alotha has no quest area ala Argus, you only enter it for the raid?
That's, uh, weird.
There are versions of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Uldum (Assaults), Stormwind and Orgrimmar (Visions) that are corrupted and overlapping with Ny'alotha, which incorporate the architecture and enemies. The Vale and Uldum get quests, WQs, and new reputation factions as well.
The raid entrance appears in whichever of the two zones is under Assault.

With a progression done at certain point you will be doing first bosses at the 1-2 try. Also keep in mind that this seems to be the last major patch in BfA which means that those 12 bosses must suffice until next expack is released.
