Henry Cavill does have a game character face.
When blizz first teased a Warcraft movie it was a short opening scene teaser that led us to believe it was gunna be a lich king movie tho
Why not?
Lich King would have been amazing. Sigh.

Toss a Coin to Your Lich King!
Oh my god, yes. That would be awesome.
I'd love to see that movie. But it would be a mistake to start at WotLK. People who did not play the games would have no idea who anyone was and it would be hard to follow. Why Vampire the Masquerade never got a season 2, because most people didn't even know it existed. (Kindred The Embraced it was called on HBO) started as if everyone watching it knew all the lore behind the game. It bombed. I think they had a good idea starting at the beginning and people were just upset (I cannot fathom why) that it was not starting at world of warcraft. Wish it had done better so we coulda got a real movie series rolling. But yea, Cavil as Arthas 100%
This would be much better off as a miniseries rather than a movie I feel. Especially in today's time of mega-popular shows (Mandalorian, Witcher for example, or even something with the production quality of the likes of Band of Brothers/The Pacific)
The movie was a bad fanfic, the less it touched the better
While I would love to see a cinematic reimagining of Arthas' story, I personally wouldn't want to see it as a movie. 2.5 hours is simply too short to pack in everything from Strahnbrad to Frostmourne and then to the Ascension. It would be better done as a series, even if it would turn out to be a shorter one.

In my opinion there is only 1 man who can play arthasMichael FassbenderAnd theres only 1 person who can play JainaLaura Bailey. Give her some hair dye and shed play opposite fassbender. Shes played the character for over a decade now and if arthas is gonna be a bit older (fassbender is in his 40s) then itd make sense for jaina too
Yes lol
The Lich King's story would have appealed to the regular movie-goer much more successfully. I don't know why they started with the opening of the Dark Portal. They tried to change up the lore to appeal to non-Warcraft fans and it just ended up confusing and pissing off everybody.
I mean, Blizzard has crowd funded tournaments, why not make a mount and pet and all proceeds go towards a lich king movie? Something WoTLK themed?
Of course the Warcraft movie shouldn't have covered the Lich King. Not if it's about the events of the first Warcraft game. If it had been about Warcraft 3, then it would've been necessary to cover that - since WC3 is mostly about Arthas.
My sister who doesn't play WoW said he'd make a great Arthas after we watched the witcher (she knows a bit about the game because she's a digital artist and likesthe style). Honestly though, I really didn't like Duncan Jones' ideas for the story. He wanted to make a World of Warcraft movie, not a warcraft movie. The second one would have been about Thrall growing up, instead of you know... The second war! The coolest war in Warcraft. They should have told the first and second wars from the human perspective, the same way we saw it playing the games, where the orcs were just bad guys. It wasn't until warcraft 3 that we learned they weren't all bad. That is when the audience should have learned that too. I hope in 10-15 years a new director comes along and remakes the first movie so we can get a proper recreation. Don't follow book lore, follow game lore.
No one else gonna mention how awesome, ominous, and fitting that tagline is? Just me? Ok XD
