I still doubt people would move from the simplistic vent just because of stuff like 3D surround voices...
's pretty slick, to be sure, but then of course, the problem of horrible microphones will prolly continue to persist into the foreseeable future.
Actually, TS3 already has 3D positioning.
Sounds cool. But but I wonder if it will have the success Vent and Teamspeak have now.

Sounds a bit over the top to me... Sure it sound neat in theory, but how do you expect to hear someone behind two walls, around a corner, and 100 feet away in the middle of a raid? If it adjusts the volume level/direction, it could just be more confusing that it's worth. I'm willing to just stay with good ol' vent. (Plus at this point in time, the Dolby Axon hardware is pretty pricy...)
Sounds cool will be interesting to know if anyone starts using it at there main voice tool.
It sounds interesting, for sure...but the only way I think it's going to get people to make the jump from TS or Vent is if (and since this is Dolby, I suppose it's not a big "if") it has significantly better audio processing, reducing or eliminating static/buzzing, volume leveling (OMFG NECESSARY) and generally increasing the quality of audio using better compression that is less lossy.
I got it, it seems real easy to use.
That sounds so good o.oThe last paragraph= awesome :PWhile vent is simplistic, this has it's future too, and I forsee plenty of people migrating (or not, in case of implementation)
a trade channel with that technogy in the last paragraph = fails.... i mean, if all those ppl were talking at the same time then everyone would ahve got a headache.... -.-
So what are this gonna cost us? More or less than a VT or TS3 server?
Even if voice chat was the primary method of communicating in-game, it should at least be limited to party, raid, say, and guild, and similar channels. Trade and general HAVE to stay text, otherwise they'd be useless.
This would be good for doing battlegrounds with your guildmates mostly. I don't see much for it in Raids.
Ha, I love how they are creating this, when it contains things which have already been done and are fully working, mumble has already got all this etc and has done for a long time and now TS3 has copied it and now Dolby, I wonder how they will do it the game provides a server or do they have a server people can use? Ah well xplanethosting will continue to provide voice on ventrilo and on mumble etc :)
If I remember correctly, Xbox Live has had this feature for several years and its pretty sweet. This would be really nice to have available to us as MMO gamers. That said, I hope they also offer a feature to turn off the 3D stuff for people who'd rather not use it.
