This feels bad. A 5 million gold mount is too common(or will become that) in Blizzard's eyes. And they wanted it to combat gold inflation. So they're moving it to the BMAH so that less people can buy it at double the price? If they want more gold out of the game, jack up the price but keep it at the same vendor. That way, more people can buy it, for more net gold removed. Instead the BMAH will only sell one whenever it's posted. Mounts start at 20k, so unless they make a special exception, some low pop servers might be selling the auction mounts for basically nothing. Completely defeating the purpose of this change.
Ah, well - it's not like I would've ever been able to afford it, anyway. I've never even had half a million, let alone FIVE million.
Still frustrating that it's being removed. It would have been very slightly less of an issue if they said from the beginning that it was only going to be available for this expansion only.Even that would have been leaning towards unacceptable though. Going forward, if they are planning on making an expansions special mount only available during the expansion it was released in, that will leave these mounts only available to established whales and the dedicated auctioneers. Because these mounts have remained available since they were released, I've been able to acquire the basic vendor amounts. If they weren't, I wouldn't even have the basic repair mount, since I never bothered buying one in Wrath.Further, this will create a situation where every expansion has a hidden requirement, this one would have been "make 5mil in disposable gold", what's the next mount going to cost? 10mil? 50 million for the one after that? The Grand Yak was 120,000. The spider 2mil, brutosaur 5mil. Seeing as how Brutosaurs are still exceedingly uncommon, and likely would be for several more expansions at the very least, I feel like I can safely imagine that this is simply untenable for the vast majority of the playerbase. This benefits virtually no one but the 0.1%.It's a bad decision, and a bad way to design your game. A mount being rare and uncommon shouldn't be synonymous with simply unattainable because it's effectively removed from the game. I won't be able to generate the 5mil required to buy this mount in time, and it will obviously sell for gold cap every time its up on the BMAH, so here's to hoping they don't raise the gold cap again, otherwise the price will skyrocket in price even further. I've already come to terms with the fact I'm not going to reach gold cap simply because I chose not to bot my garrisons. That decision now means that, going forward, it's unlikely I'll ever own another expansions gold sink mount, and the yak will be the best I can do, since every gold sink mount going forward will cost the average player gold cap, since it will have to be bought off the BMAH.Thanks, Blizzard.PS the only time in the history of the game that 5mil gold was obtainable by an "average" player who wasn't exploiting the AH, it would have been during WoD, if you had 20+ alts that were garrison botted. And I give very little credence to the claim that an alt army that large could qualify as "average".
WoW right now has WoW tokens.I'm sure there are people who bought WoW tokens to acquire gold to purchase the 5 million AH mount. So if they removed that AH npc on the mount...... I wouldn't even want to imagine what would happen. I can see a lawsuit happen easily...
