I hate how gorgeous Venthyr looks in concept and how in-game model is a caricature of it.Edit: people, who say that art of Venthyr looks like generic grey elf, need to get their eyes checked, cause if something their faces look like is dark tuskless orcs. They resembel more of early gargoyle-like creature trasformation (which makes bloody sence), instead of final tall angry goblin in-game model.Azog from Hobbit and Warcraft movie female orc concept for reference:https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/006/602/711/large/matteo-stirati-azog-01.jpghttps://i.pinimg.com/originals/fc/d5/f4/fcd5f4e4309793b9b0a59a1becc5049b.jpg
Seriously, the art department knocked it out of the park again.I love the designs and what thoughts went into them.
I LOVE that sword.I'm loving the return to armor and weapons that don't take too much suspension of disbelief to believe that they'd function as armor and weapons while still remaining interesting looking.
i wish the venthyr didnt look old, the concept art is what i want! i understand the design wanting be be intimidating but it also makes them look older (i know they are old). Vampires were more beautiful and that beauty is intimidating. I still love Venthyr and will be siding with them since it they first were revealed!
For them to make epic looking armor, the way armor models work has to change... they should've made geosets and layers with the HD model revamps in WoD. Towel cloaks, robes... they're still using the same technology as in vanilla for this and it limits them way too much, which is why things don't look that great and most people choose to transmog to the old stuff. I can see they're trying, the Maldraxus cloth pants look great with that kilt-like look which lets you see the pants underneath. The Mythic appearance of Blightguard's Legguards would also be a great way to make robes in the future.
I'm really disappointed in how the Venthyr's faces translated from the concept art into the models, the female face in particular. If the Venthyr had androgynous facial features on both sexes that would have been amazing; but they went so super masculine. Meh.
Am I the only one who thinks these leather shoulders are lame compared to the rest of the set?
so many great armor and weapon designs in this expansion. well done, blizzard!
God bless Tom Yip
It's tricky IMO. We don't want them to look similar to Elves now do we but some people don't want them to look "ugly".I remind you that the NPC Nightborne models in Suramar are different to what players are allowed to be, they were very monotone and cranky faced but now we have pretty faced ones.Vampires aren't ALWAYS beautiful, they are just recently popular in this form. (thanks Anne Rice and *shudder* twilight....)I like the concept art too but it is so close to just being a grey short eared elf, ESPECIALLY with all the allowances Blizzard are giving in Shadowlands with customization. Most people will probably be fine with a exactly that, a grey skin elf with short ears and then some nice concept art looking Xmogs but I hope they don't ruin this possible new race just for people like that.I'd like them to be either or both but definitively different whichever way they go. Maybe the similar of Worgen, vicious but dignified males and softer but still ferocious females.
I am so glad the Venthyr females don't look identical to their concept art. They would be just another generic "pretty" race. And come on, it's the afterlife, not everyone has to look what we think is good.
definitely like the look and feel of this. Also appreciate the consistency of the styling and the overall sinister / gothic feel. As others mentioned, glad we're getting away from ridiculously over the top weapons (corrupted gorehowl comes to mind). Looking forward to see what the guns look like
The Venthyr looks like a mix of Nightborne and troll combined together. Throught they look pretty nice. And in the Castle Natria raid sets concept art, it looks like cloth, leather & mail are all wearing plate armor (the grey parts of them looks like metal).
That's how the shoulders look like then... ok, I'm hiding them.
Still a bit disappointed by the Venthyr Female face :/ On the concept art, they still feminine but not in our current conception of the feminity, and I love this idea of not being in the easy "Seductive and hot vampire" to prefer a harsher way to represent them, but in game, sorry but I'm just seeing a transvestite... :/
So far armor is generally really great in Shadowlands, if they had made something like this in Uldir, it wouldn't have been so bitter to lose class sets after gorgeous class armor in Legion (seriously, I love all of Tier19, Tier20 had iconic reworks and additional colour schemes etc.). While having had strong resentment against this decision in BfA, now I don't feel bad about SL sets being substitutes to class armor. As far as we get some quality armor, it's all good.
The leather armor looks better without those shoulders. And that sword is very cool, and goes with the leather set. Regardless if it is a two hander or not it goes well with that look.I personally like the elf look of the Venthyr. Almost a true dark elf element added to the game. More so than the Nightborne.
My god they look nothing like in the concept art,its so sad,in the concept art they look like female vampires but in my god in game they look like nosferatu
