Hmm...wondering how the AP -> Agility will work for my rogue. If they just replace all the AP on items with Agi, it'd boost my crit insanely...but I've a feeling it won't work like that, heh. Let's hope
This entire expansion seems to be more about getting back to the basics and revamping the old systems rather than pile more and more things onto their systems. I rather like the idea; it seems like it will almost be a new game, but without actually changing it. This change represents this change, as they are getting rid of as many stats as they can in order to simplify how this works. Blizzard seems to be doing a lot better at cutting out things that aren't needed. Just look at the Trial of the Crusader loot tables; for each version, there seems to be one piece for each class, nothing more and nothing less. I like where this is going; there will no longer be the problem of nightmarish itemization for everyone. Well, at least it should become less pronounced.
...aaaand I'm not so excited about the expansion anymore.
Just...wow. I think there are going to be a lot of people boot up after the expansion, go to do some random intro Quest in the new Azeroth, and get destroyed by a new and improved Hogger, because all their armor and stats don't work together anymore.Yes - level 80's in full Purple getting owned by the epic awesomeness of everybodies favourite Gnoll. Super, super sweet.(on a side note, if they get rid of Hogger during the Cataclysm, I am going to storm Blizz HQ and start taking hostages)(Disclaimer: not really)
So I guess Shaman will get their Spells enhanced by Attack Power or something like DKs do?What does this do to Priests? Shadow is a DPS spec, but the other two trees are Healers. Currently I don't have to change all of my items to switch specs between Shadow and Holy.... If Spirit will be useless to DPSers, I'll need to replace just about every item just to solo. Blah. Guess I better start gathering gear without Spirit before the expansion, so I can level effectively to 85! ;)The other thing...DPSers don't have to worry about Mana Regen, and SP comes from Int...but Healers need Spirit AND Int? Will Healers and DPSers get a different amount of SP from Int then? Or maybe our co-efficients will get a boost. And I do think requiring Hunters to just worry about Agi is over-simplification. It's not often I refer to something in this game as dumbed down, but.... How sad for Hunters =(
I'm so freaking happy that hunters don't have consumable ammo anymore...and the mana thing is cool too...
For anyone who is going to have a little moan about having to carry different sets of gear for changing specs, since some stats will be totally unnecessary for different specs of the same class... I refer you to this. Read some of the comments, some are quite funny, but there are classes that have been doing this for years. At the moment, I carry roughly 30 pieces of gear with me, so I can adjust it based on what I am doing at the time. And I'm probably better off than most, because although I have Dual Specs, they are both Protection (strange, I know). If I was Prot / Fury, or any other combo, I might have even more. It's just an accepted part of Dual Specs. Time to clear those bags a bit Priests.
So wait. They make all these changes so that all casters want (or at least don't mind) having spirit, and in the next xpac they're making it so dps casters want nothing to do with spirit? WTF blizz. I'm wondering what kind of changes they'll make to molten armor/fel armor to make up for this, or if they're just gonna leave us in the dust.
I added some notes to the blog post to make it a little more clear what you guys are looking at. See above:
I dunno. This seems TOO simple imo.
it is good, BUT it seemsq to be even more easier
