Blizzard Addresses Feedback on Delves: Combat, Class Balance, and More!

Hi everyone,

We’ve got some updates for you as we’re nearing launch. Thank you for all the great feedback so far.

The issue regarding not being able to leave a delve should be resolved with the latest Beta build. We’re also working on better messaging for you when you’re on a team, regarding which teammates are eligible for delves. You should see some progress on that in the current Beta build.

On the content side of things, we’ve flagged objects that Brann should never attack – specifically the Nerubian cocoon. No more Brann surprising you with a face full of webs.

We’ve continued doing tuning to make sure certain classes don’t feel like they’re having a vastly different experience in the delves. Most notably, we’ve reduced unavoidable damage for casters wearing cloth armor.

On that note, we’ve introduced a new curio designed to help Brann feel more impactful for healers. It’s called the Rage-Filled Idol, a combat curio. Players in a healer spec will find they have an easier time acquiring this. With this curio, Brann will do noticeably more damage in combat. However, he will take damage every few seconds while in combat. Our goal with this curio is to have healers engage more in healing Brann while also increasing his damage outpost with a cost associated with it. Healers should spend less time having to juggle between damage and healing themselves if they choose to equip this curio.

We’ll continue to work to improve the experience of delves, and we’re hard at work determining what’s next for the feature after Season 1, based on everyone’s feedback.

I have a decently geared (ilevel 606 with the tier set) Demonlock on the leveling server, did Delves up to level 10, and the 10th level is where my limit was reached (not only failed no deaths, but failed the max death limit). I managed to kill the last boss of Earthcrawl Mines after 7-ish attempts and revising my talents so that my Felguard was tankier and I could use Amplify Curse with Curse of Tongues so that the bosses casts were slow enough either for Brann to interrupt them (I think he has about a 20 second cooldown interrupt) or for my Felguard's Axe Throw to come off cooldown. I had to specifically interrupt Curse of Agony EVERY TIME, because the last few ticks would be doing close to a million damage, and pray that Brann would interrupt the Rune cast. I will say the damage output is fine considering I was ilvl 606 and a Delve 10 specifically says "be 616" or something around there, but the mechanics are not universally friendly to all classes. Also I found ONE single "anima power" throughout the entire 10, not sure why they become rarer the higher level you go, since the higher level you go the more you NEED these powers.

If I was a class that could interrupt more reliably or self heal (warlock self healing is very bursty but not consistent enough for the damage that was happening, drain life barely heals for 100k per tick at 606 ilevel, it's almost better to just dps and heal from Fel Synergy/Soul Leech) that boss would have 100% been easier, and with how Demonology's damage works after the rework, the Felguard can BARELY hold aggro, and I will rip aggro off the second Diabolist effects start happening except for Fel Lord procs, since Fel Lord procs are 100% minion damage, so no threat gain, while Mother of Chaos gives me a 1 mill - 2 mill damaging Shadow Bolt proc, and Pitlord gives me a 2 - 4 mill free Hand of Guldan.

Brann as a healer is also almost useless, his Potions (spammed heal) heal for 4k per stack every 3 seconds, and you have to run through them to pick them up, on top of the fact that he loses his interrupt as a healer. Comon please..we waiting tons of years for a pretty nice elem shaman for highend contents and keys...why 25% LB nerf? Oh god comon please ....blizz Hunters made 1,5M ST after nerf 1,3M Destro was 950k ST after tuning 1,2M 95% of classes over 1M on Bosses(ST) Elem was 1,1M and blizz? I have high hopes but I'm pretty sure this will end up being dead after a week or so to all but the achievement and cosmetic farmers.
