all of them are EXTREMELY disappointing basically the same specs with nothing interestingly new +every other class get old cool abilties give mages DEEP FREEZE BACK!
My first glance as a generally Arcane player (it's more thematic to me okay, I play mage for fun and that's it :p) was that the first few things in the Mage class tree...make me basically an ice mage. Weird. If only these trees...all off them...were actually more like Vanilla's, in a sense. We'd have all our spells/abilities in the book, and these trees added changes/buffs/utility to various spells instead. Hell, I'd even just take Vanilla's 1% increases to stats over these. I'm going to miss the 'pick a talent from these 3' I think.
frost looks broken as hell, it has it all, insane unstoppable damage without rng and survivability on mass with tons of mobility.arcane is a total mess.why would you want a 10% chance to get an additional arcane charge on arcane blast, thats terrible design that punishes the player in lust windows.because of the insane mana increase AB has, this makes it terrible to control your mana because unpredictable. on top of that you are forced to spec into it....same with evocation, why does that give you 1 charge? whats that for, so rando useless...a good design would be you get 1 charge per evocation tick, that punishes early abortion or getting interupted, and rewards a full cast.thats how it should be imo.Mana gem is useless, just another keybind on top of the already to many spells and things to manage in this game.in arena you have to buff, set up a table and a managem every time, terrible design, a ton of work, without meaningful use.and then you have to use an addon if you want to destroy your managem because you want to refresh the charges.somehow you cannot cast managem if you have one with 1 or 2 charges left.just shows nobody is testing the spec at all.10% mana is nothing as arcane, 1 blast and its gone, you can spend another talent point to get 5% damage for 12 seconds, why?if it's that deep in the tree it should be 10% at least, and make managem a baseline ability of arcane with cooldown instead of having to "summon" your gem every time it just needless work to do for the meaningless reward/utility you get.Arcane familiar could be great but no, that thing has to cast wet noodle bolts at enemies that do absolutely no damage at all, but are excellent to break cc.nether tempest, a complete joke of a talent nobody ever used in any situation ever.it deals no damage or has any other use.Presence of mind is useless since a long time, it adds nothing to the spec, arcane blast is already close to gcd casttime in burst windows, making the use of POM pointless.it should affect Poly and mass poly, make arcane blast free, or grant more charges, something along those lines.improved arcane exlposion should increase it's damage and range.supernova still does close to no damage, then make it actually 0 dmg so it doesnt break cc.touch of the magi, radiant spark, arcane harmony etc, i never liked any of this.arcane surge, ok looks like we get convoke now but pay with ALL our mana, while all other casters could have Mana removed, since it has no impact because you never go oom at any point. there simply is no mana management for other specs, why even bother having mana at this point.why do fire and frost get insane movement speed while invisible but arcane is punished while it should be the other way round?give arcane a frost or fire sheep to be viable in pvp, thats the main issue.getting kicked as arcane feels so dumb, you stand there like a *!@#$ while fire and frost can either start sheeping or spam frostbolt fireball.give arcane displacement back! it was an awesome ability, fitting the arcane role perfectly.also the heal on instant casts in BFA was amazingevery spec now can get slow, time anomaly, dragons breath, greater invis, aha great, arcane and frost mages breathing fire and throwing meteors makes all the sense in the world, not.
No chrono shift no displacement no shimmer, so just how is arcane suppose to be able to cast a single spell in arena since practically all the spells you have to cast? Mobility made arcane fun and playable. Just take us back to legion before you f’d up the whole spec
Nice to see that Blizzard is consistent with dropping a huge, steaming, figurative pile of doodoo on the arcane spec for yet another expansion. I mean jeez just divi the arcane spells up between fire and frost and get rid of the spec entirely since you clearly hate it so much / you have no idea how to make the spec fun or unique. The ONLY fun/unique thing about arcane after WoD (when they were last fun to play) was Greater Invisibility. It was nice to have a get out of jail free card when solo leveling/exploring. But since every spec has access to it now, there is no reason to play arcane. Note: Any kind of fun or unique "mage-like" ideas went into the new hero class
Never posted anything, never comment or complain but this time....shaman and priest clearly gets some new stuff but Mage, so sad so disappointing...If the old/new talent tree is just about mixing old azetite/artifact trait, conduit, leggo etc then it doesn't feel fresh and appealing at all.keep hoping
while I don't main a mage...I can't be the only one who doesn't want cauterize to be something you have to take for combustion...that damn spell kills me way too much
no return for Frostfire Bolt or Deep Freeze? I was really hoping to see these things return. Frostfire was such a cool ability I miss it and hope with each xpac it makes a return.
As a fire mage I am quite satisfied. The most important talents are there plus what was most useful for me from Shadowlands - Shifting Power and SKB. No surprises but no drama either.
Hello, I'm sure there are not many Arcane Activists out there, but a serious problem I have noticed with the Arcane tree is that virtually every node is something Arcane mage currently has right now all at once. There are currently, from what I count, and I may have missed 1 or 2, only 11 nodes on the tree that Arcane does not currently have right all at once in the same build. The majority of these 11 nodes I have counted are already available talents or conduits that are not currently used or taken for various reasons. Arcane Mage is actually losing more than it gains, as Harmonic Echo and Arcane Harmony are being nerfed from their current states. This may be to make up for the new Arcane Surge replacement of Arcane Power - which is in some ways is also a nerf as the current iteration of Arcane Power has CDR from Clearcasting. You can somewhat scrap together the same build as on live servers, but without Arcane Orb, Slipstream, Presence of Mind, Mana Gem, or Evocation, and without Chrono Shift. This is generally not ideal, as with a coming expansion one hopes to become stronger, not leave behind power. I do hope that the Mage tree dev trims down the tree, leaving behind conduits that were not used, such as Nether Precision, which gates access to the valuable and much used Slipstream. As well as combines some of the Barrage nodes. Which there are 4 scattered nodes for Barrage which only make it the current version that it is. I think trimming this tree and possibly the frost tree as well would help make room for new and interesting talents if there is time. I recommend the following; place Arcane Orb higher in the tree - maybe replace it with Nether Precision. Change the placement of Imp Prismatic Barrier with Arcane Tempo, and possibly make Arcane Tempo give a crit or mastery buff instead of haste, as Arcane does not stack haste. Finally Make every talent in row eight - 1 pointers. At least Prodigious Savant and Illuminated Thoughts followed by making Evocation and Mana Gem baseline. These last two changes would allow for Arcane Mages to have their current and only viable build whilst enjoying something new added on for the next expansion. Being either Siphon Storm or another charge of Arcane Orb.I do not know if this was helpful or well critiqued feedback, but I do hope the devs read this as always and although there has been a lot of criticism on all Class and Spec trees, it is only because people have passion for the game and they all love your product so much. Amazing job to all the devs.
