I think people need to understand that Chronciles is more of a summary, some details will be left out. That doesn't make those details non-canon / retconned out. https://twitter.com/Burnzerker/status/775480123596283904As long as the material covering those events in greater detail are still considered canon, they are still canon.
tell me those spelling errors aren't actually in the book. tell me...
Obviously not everything in this post is a retcon, as stated by the OP... but Blizzard has been known for their retcons for years. I'm surprised to see people still claiming otherwise.
The change regarding the lead up and circumstances surrounding the battle between Cairne and Garrosh. The events that happened that day had an impact on MULTIPLE storylines, multiple layers of the lore.. There are massive implications with that change, and is a straight up retcon.
Jesus Christ this is horrible, all of the intricacies in the story have been removed (Cairne challenging Garrosh because of mistaking the assassins to be his, Kael is an idiot, Balnazzar and Varimathras don't hatch a cunning plan - they just fail, Kel'Thuzad, the mastermind behind all of the Scourge's operations somehow gets the idea of taking revenge on Tichondrius later than Arthas, Maiev's betrayal is ignored etc.) and replaced with the garbage that people who didn't care for lore at all believed. Before this, someone'd tell me "Oh but Maiev was merely chasing the Betrayer!" and I'd respond with "No, she was a lying traitor that only cared about herself" or someone'd say "Oh but Garrosh killed Cairne who challenged him to a duel for his warmongering" and I'd reply with "No, Cairne and Garrosh were both deceived, one by the Twilight's Hammer and other by the Grimtotem" and now all I can say is "Oh, well, yep, guess the story is really that shallow now."Terrible changes.
Kel'Thuad hahahaha sorry i laughed there x)
