Wait... The can't afford to keep 190 employees and laid them off or fired them (3 days ago) but they can afford to give this guy 200 MILLION?
considering how eroded all of the Blizzard titles feel at the moment, it's hard not to associate that feeling with the giant payout he is gettingKotick is causing the Anima drought and the Anima drought may never end
What a chad
Like this has never happened in the history of any company ever! Those people got laid off because that part of the company sucked pure and simple. Now, could some of them be sent to other parts of the company, maybe and maybe they were but not all. As for his bonus, I imagine he has been getting his bonus for years and no one has even noticed until now. Depending on how well and company does and its profits a company has the right to award its CEO accordingly. The story makes it seem like the CEO got awarded for being the evil Dr. Dasterdly firing all the workers for profits and bonuses of which they get nothing! We don't work there and as far as I know, they haven't fired long time employees and made them train their foreign worker replacements yet like Disney. If you are still supporting them without condemnation you are hypocrites.
So many ignorant people and so much misinformation in the comments about the stock market, jesus. It's like 95% of people here have no clue about basic supply/demand of the shares.
Note to Moderators: if you're going to remove comments for "political reasons", maybe have a word with the writing/content team to reduce the no. of business related news items... or at least call for a "Business related" News category; a lot of the business world has political grounding so the writers are asking for trouble if they don't have a way to preclude some viewers from seeing articles that are guaranteed to rile them up.True, some will go to these type of articles to purposely vent inappropriately to the content of the article, but at least give some of us who could NOT care less about the business side of the boardroom/backroom shenanigans of Activision-Blizzard a way to remain blissfully unaware of these kinds of articles.
everyone that has the smarts and the time will use every legal way to pay less taxes. And it is not even about entitlement but conservative thinking: I pay the taxes i am due, i do not make the rules. And i do not want to pay more than i have to. - Every normal person ever. What can be criticized:- The amount of resources you can employ to hone in on the amount of taxes you are due...employing experts, using organizations to hold profit/loss... iAll the people are somewhere on the line: illegal --- legal --- intended --- ethical/moralThe richer you are, the better you are able to stay on the left side of the line without going to prison... it is much more secure to be on the left side with money.Close the big gaps between legal/intended/ethical and then you have a fair system

As a kid I dreamed of working for Blizzard.I wouldn't want to work for Blizzard today.
So, I wanted to add my 2 cents on this debate on cost and pay. The company gave him shares at a value to the company of $0.000001. This did not cost the company anything because the company holds X number of shares in the company, many of which did not cost anything. There is a contract where he gets more of a stake in the company based on the companies performance while he is in control, this is normal in the business world. Now, the value of those shares today might be $200m but he is not able to sell them or cash them out due to regulations. So, think of it this way. Over the last few years the company has gained over 5 billion in value. Regardless of where the value came from his contract states that if the company does well then he gets a bonus. The value of the shares today is only 4% of the gained value in the last few years. So, is it absolutely terrible for someone to get a 4% bonus for going a good job. Now, put it back in to an employee perspective. How would you feel if your employer gave you a 4% raise based only on the value you added to the company while you worked there for 5 years. Then said we are going pay this to you in a form of certificate that you can not cash, but hold on to and might be worth more in the future... I am sure most employee would reject this and blame the company for coming up with some creative way to give you a raise without actually paying you anything... I feel we get caught up in the intrinsic numbers and not percents. Everyone gets paid much different salaries across the country, what is considered fair to one is unfair to another. I say until anyone on this site actually runs ATVI and increases its value by 5 billion, then you really have no idea what it takes or what it is worth, nor do you have any right to judge. Good job Kotick! Thank you for making ATVI worth more today, thank you for pushing the company to new levels so we can continue to enjoy the games ATVI has created. I look forward to the new games and updates that continue.
I bet mods just adore posts like this one!
Who appointed this guy? Does he even care about gamers OR the company?
I created a team for the wow donations for Bobby's Bonus - Goal is $201m, because $200m is just inadequate. https://events.doctorswithoutborders.org/participant/Bobbys-Bonus
