Odyn's flaming scar-beard from Ragnaros is finally cured!
Can someone please Shatter him now so we don’t have to deal with his cinder-breath later…
The dragon nodding during her speech lmao
Damn, she schooled Odyn. lol
Kinda a shame it WASN'T Wrathion focused instead of Vyranoth just randomly freezing him. Wrathion and Odyn couldn't connected on the fact that both of them have done stuff they thought was good and about protecting Azeroth, but those actions have backfired (Wrathion indirectly leading the Legion here, Odyn's actions towards Helya creating an enemy that allied with the Jailer) despite their intentions. I'd even have given players a choice - let Vyranoth take the lead and fight Odyn, or let Wrathion take the lead and they talk.
Vyranoth doesn't just one-shot Odyn. We do fight him beforehand. This cutscene is one triggered at a certain HP level, I would imagine.Odyn just does the "Enough!" thing he always does. Vyranoth just has enough power left to encase him. I think that's fine. If freezing Tirion Fordring at the start of the fight is fine, this is too.
Only men are allowed to be evil. Women are always misunderstood and eventually change sides.
i been thinking of them storm dragons more and more since this expansion even when we earned the green one for time portal quest i had a feeling we would call for them soon and i love vyranoth more and more i think people forget just how strong the aspects and incarnets really are they not to be toyed with
who the fk are all these anti- odyn commenters , yall IS DUMB
Odyn has always been a villan. I hated every second having to work with that monster. About time!
As for Odyn's villain arc... I think Odyn is meant to present the worst side of the Titans. He is a being of Order, so he does not care about things like the natural state of things, he does not respect things that are not made by Titan hands, he does not value free will, and he loves setting up systems, trials and rules. Added to that is a lot of arrogance and self-righteousness. Someone like Tyr has the same basic properties, but with compassion rather than arrogance. And yeah, Odyn is usually his own foil, because his actions come to bite him in the ass. Not respecting the dragons as more than servants, comes to bite him here. Not respecting free will cost him Helya, which trapped him and gave rise to a horrific enemy to his people in the K'valdir. Trading his eye for knowledge to elevate himself and his servants, instead empowered the Jailer and the enemies of the cosmos. Leading his invention of the Val'kyr, as well as a large portion of his chosen people, into servitude to the forces of Death as well. And when the Legion arrived to Azeroth, and his people were seduced by them, he had to take extra-ordinary measures to ensure someone besides God-King Skovald would pass the trials and claim the Aegis of Aggramar, rather than violate the rules he put in place to earn it. His refusal to abandon his trials or just smash Skovald when he appeared rather than give him his prize, played with the fate of all of Azeroth. So is Odyn a villain? No. Not so far at least. From his perspective, his actions seek to accomplish a greater good. Which he defines from a perspective of both Order and Superiority. But he is both a fool and an antagonist. His arrogance requires him to be put into his place. And his perspective means he needs to be shown a better way. The combination of the two likely means he'll stay an antagonist however. And may at some point die, rather than change. And it will probably again be all his own fault.
WoW writing is so childish lol, the dialogue comes across like it's from a kids show and is always the same. '' FOOLISH MORTALS '''' No u, don't be evil evil bad '''' Ok.. ''
Exactly. This whole thing is just... silly. I won't even address how laughable it is that she just waves her hand and freezes Odyn, and instead focus on the fact that it's a shame that the norm for us, players, as characters, is to have zero agency and side with whoever the quest tells you to (other than not completing the quest), which makes absolutely no sense in scenarios such as these.I see no reason that, from an in-universe perspective, my character(s) would side with Vyranoth and not Odyn. Anything bad that Odyn has done involving Helya and whatnot, as far as I know, is meta knowledge and not something that our characters know. 1 - From an in-character perspective, Odyn (and by extension, the other keepers and the titans) has firmly been a good guy. Also from an in-character perspective, Helya is irredeemably evil, and her origin story isn't well-known to us as a character (and even if it were, it doesn't make her any less evil in the same sense that Arthas *!@#ing up Sylvanas' soul with frostmourne doesn't make her any less evil, but that's a bit of a tangent, let's focus only on what our characters know, and the point being that the one thing people hold against Odyn is meta knowledge.)2 - My characters aren't dragons and, as such, are not inclined to side with dragons over other entities, so this shouldn't be a factor. 3 - The incarnates - more specifically, Vyranoth - have been our enemies until what, 30 minutes ago? And now we're just siding with her against a character that has always been our ally, because? --- I see no reason that a non-dragon in-game character would hold even the aspects as more trustworthy than the Keepers, much less an incarnate that we've just met. Even if she is indeed not manipulating us, can our characters be any more gullible? Considering in-universe knowledge, unless your character is also extremely anti-titan/order, no one in their right mind would side with Vyranoth, unless they themselves are dragons and hold the word of the aspects as word of authority. 4 - Repeating what you just said because it's definitely worth pointing out, the storm dragons weren't even enslaved by Odyn, and none of the Legion quests indicate that there was coercion at play or that they weren't content. It's like if Xavius suddenly came back and Brann bronzebeard told us that he's actually good now and we should help him kill cenarius, and we just go "yes king". Moments like these make you realize DF's story isn't any better than Shadowlands, it's just easier to not care about it because it's way blander. But hey, at least you could side with Sylvanas beforehand.
Looking forward to the day we can put Odyn in the ground once and for all.
