New Tabards Suggest Alternate Timelines on the Patch 10.1.5 PTR

We've discovered two new tabards with intriguing names on the Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 PTR! Although we also previously datamined new
alternate universe NPCs
, the
Utopian Tabard
and
Scourge Victorious Tabard
imply yet another set of separate timelines in which different forces rule over Azeroth.
Utopia
The
Utopian Tabard
appears identical the upcoming
Wrath of the Lich King Classic reputation tabard for the Sons of Hodir
, though the name doesn't
quite
seem to fit that idea. It's clearly related to the Frost Giants, even using the icon,
inv_tabard_sonsofhodir_b_01
, though it has a different name from the
Wrath-era reputation tabard
, implying it could come from an alternate timeline - perhaps one in which the Keeper Loken never succumbed to the whispers of Yogg-Saron and therefore never betrayed his brother Thorim.
Victorious Scourge
The
Scourge Victorious Tabard
is even more interesting in that it appears to be new to Dragonflight and both the name and iconography are quite provocative, featuring what appears to be Frostmourne and suggesting a timeline in which the Lich King's Scourge succeed in blanketing Azeroth with the curse of Undeath. Interestingly, this tabards icon,
inv_misc_tabard_forsaken
, was added to the game all the way back in
Mists of Pandaria
, although it only appears to have been used by the
Nathanos is Near
buff and
Tall, Dark, and Sinister
achievement, both in Battle for Azeroth.

OMG I second, third & fourth this to infinity...its absolutely stupid that there are these types of tabards now that there's been whole tabards created and sent to live.
STOP WITH THE CUT IN HALF AT THE WAIST TABARDS BLIZZARD!
This tabard has a cut because it's not a new model. Some comments above suggested this model was used as far back as Cata.
The other model
is
new and doesn't have the cut.

Please, no AU or time travel. Ugh what a horrid way to tell a story. I'm fine with small versions of it that let us take a peek but I dont want an entire expac or raid tier on it
I would love it everyone has such a a fear of time travel cause of WOD but it wasn’t time travel that made the xpac bad lol I would love a full patch or a full raid tier or even a full xpac on it I’m personally sick of all of this dragon crap I really hope we get to fight the titans soon cause honestly if given a choice I’d side with the primal incarnates the titans are genocidal maniacs that wanna brainwash everyone or kills those they can’t brainwash

This seems like a great time to do a reshaping of the world/reboot of the franchise while maintaining the canon of the current one
Nah, that's not what they're doing. This is their marvel-esque expansion of the multiverse, The twisting timeways essentially gives WoW access to all the whacky noncanon hearthstone versions of things. If they want Scourge Jaina, Titanforged Arthas, or murloc Saurfang they can just make them fall out of a portal or something, and it never has to affect the real world/canon in any way unless they want it to like AU Gul'dan. Mostly it gives them an endless source of villains we can knock over (we even have Bizarro Tyr coming in 10.1.5). It's all very comic booky.
Bizzaro Tyr was my favorite part of this reply. :) I love the way they're doing it. To be fair, they've been doing this kind of thing in the books for years. Thrall had a whole story in Cata about chasing an alternate Blackmoor through different timelines as he learned about elements.

I've got to wonder, in a hypothetical world in which Arthas won and the entire world was scourged, what would be the point of tabards? They exist to show your membership in a cause or faction. To represent, sometimes literally, their colors. In the world where Arthas won, everything would be under his control. Everyone and everything would basically be mindless puppets to him. Why would any tabards for that "faction" exist at that point? There'd be no one left to oppose them.
Guild Wars 2 did something quite interesting with this going from the first game to the second with an evil undead faction. They won in the region of the world they were in between the game's time periods, but didn't convert everyone to being undead. They went around rewriting history to make it seem like the undead leader had "liberated" them and made it seem like an honor to be resurrected into undead servitude once someone had died, and to stay dead was a punishment for some perceived wrongdoing in life.
Obviously not everyone bought into it and there were rebellions and secret groups trying to take them down, but the general population was manipulated by propaganda over 200+ years into believing it. They could do something similar in WoW, where the Lich King doesn't convert literally everyone, but does rule, and we have to try to put an end to it for reasons.

The forsaken have been scourge 2.0 for a long while so a tabard like this seems fitting.
Two years is "A long while" now apparently.
What? They have been doing scourge like stuff since Cataclysm. So, more like 12+ years.
