Genuine curiosity/lack of understanding: Why would they do BC servers and not just release BC as an expac for Classic?
I have no idea how to see my beta settings now.

because people that really want to play old expansions only care about that specific expansion, aka the classic #$%stbc though idk, I think people that like and would play tbc and wrath are only arena and pvp players in general
Because not everyone would want to progress past Naxx so it would be smart of them to make fresh Classic and forever Classic realms.
WoW beta could be for consoles, just sayin.
I'd genuinely be interested in Beta testing Diablo 4 :o
It’s absolutely critical that you can bring your classic character into TBC. Classic Vanilla population is going to nosedive, so it makes sense to let you either transfer your classic character to a new classic only server or set of servers, or stay and the realm will change to TBC. I think this is the way they will go. I want to move from PVP to PVE for TBC, so I’ll probably be paying for a transfer.
There is a number of ways they could do it, speaking for myself I like both Classic and TBC, in the long run I would like to just switch between the 2 whenever I feel like it, I hope they just clone over our account data to the TBC server and leave our classic characters in stasis to play whenever we want, with a few new servers for the classic purists who aren't interested in TBC. Unfortunately for them the classic population will tank for quite a while when TBC comes out but in the long run I hope the 2 games can exist in parallel like Shadowland and Classic currently do, worst thing Blizzard can do is pressure people into choosing one over the other with a permanent 1 way character move, at least in my opinion
