That tree had it coming!
I'm looking forward to all my Sylvanas loot :) On the bright side maybe Lor'themar can finally take over as Warchief!
sylvanas story ended with the death of arthas 4 expansions ago, she's been hanging around ever since, and blizz didn't really know what to do with her apart from showing up in a few worgen related quests, then replaced the most boring warchief in wow history to yet again do nothing but appear in a few worgen related quests throughout legion, now they decided wouldn't it be fun to do a arthas/ilidan thing and "save our people, by killing everyone in the process", but what's really disappointing is the whole reasoning behind it, why are we going full frontal on darnassus ? because they are gathering the same stones as we do, and we cant have that happening... that's not grey morality, that's poor story telling
I always felt I understood Sylvanas. Destroy the Lich King, spend the unlife forced upon her to take revenge on the one who did so much harm. Then choosing to stay around afterwards to protect the people who looked to her from alliance zealots and from a warchief who viewed them as worse than cannonfodder. She did some truly horrible things in pursuit of those goals, sure, but I got it. The BFA cinematic and the explanation for the War of Thorns seemed to imply that she was, to a lesser extent, transferring some of that desire to protect the Forsaken at all costs to the rest of the Horde. And I was behind that. I was behind her.But...now? That was a petulant, childish act. I was hoping for a more imaginative reason for the world tree burning - a story twist beyond the obvious as we were promised - but this is somehow so much worse than if she'd planned to burn it all along. This was a spiteful, petty act. That wasn't For The Horde, that was just for her.I've always been a huge fan of the Banshee Queen. I don't think she was a good pick for Warchief, but I thought that that could have made for a good story in itself. Someone used to working in the shadows forced to lead from the front and split her focus. But what I saw here wasn't a Warchief. It wasn't even a Queen or a Ranger General. It was a child, about as far away from a complex shades-of-grey character as I could imagine.Disappointed. Very disappointed.
Wth do you mean by morally grey and all these negative comments, Ik what, but it isnt so bad, that cinematic explained a lot and at least IT was good, I kinda understand you but that's nothing new that Sylvanas is bad, like BAD. She wanted to resurrect the Blood Elves during the Siege on Orgrimmar, exc, what did you thought, I dont want to sound so offensive but SHE WAS BAD... But I see that she changed a bit, she doesnt want to capture zones like Gilneas, shes burning and destroying everything, thats what annoys you? Zero honor right? Well I get it now D:
Sylvanas is ill. shee needs to step down from that post and let Saurfang take over.
well, what in Hell was that?"Sylvanas want hostage in Darnassus" become "Brun the tree" for a mood swing?while she is at it, she will also not act against the blue goat with spaceship and teleportation (for a literal army).that was..... disgusting.the poorest twist ever made.who wrote that?
I didn't even realise that cinematic in game was the "Warbringer Sylvanas" cinematic, what a let down. The Jaina one was so cool and told a coherent story.
Nothing about Sylvanas surprises me. And we scarcely protested Illidan getting to skate on his villainy. For my two cents, I'm annoyed to see the Blood Knights parachuting in to help with this. They were supposed to be truly attempting to redeem themselves. They were forgiven for draining a Naaru and started the path of redemption. But apparently the only thing redemptive is loyalty to a morally grey organization with a leader acting in a dishonorable manner. It makes me sick to think they were accorded status as partners in the paladin order hall. Not that it is necessary to take things so seriously, of course.

In other Azeroth news: Sylvarthas and the burning thorn.
I would call this whole fiasco wildly successful; you have both sides fighting passionately about a game they love, ahead of an expansion that is geared toward the very core of the game: Alliance vs. Horde. What better way to spearhead a WAR between players than this? I went to finish the questline this morning and had 40 alliance players surrounding Sylvanas so I couldn't had in the quest; people are very clearly moved by all this and it is fantastic.Blizzard were not only expecting this outcry, they were aiming for it. Mission accomplished, no?I do regret that Sylvanas, a character deep and rich in lore, had to be warchief at this time and thus, may have been the only option when it came to filling the role. I do feel it's not fitting with her character and that something could have been done to better smooth out the edges there, but then the cinematic would have to be changed and that's a rather large project that was already well underway, not exactly easy to change on the fly (awesome animation though, kudos to the cinematics department).Perhaps a downfall in planning the particulars, perhaps an intended change of character in Sylvanas before a set of events we haven't seen yet or perhaps, Blizzard just wanted to put out the hardest-hitting action to promote the new expansion, at the (quite high) expense of cheapening the lore of a character that many people hold close to their hearts, whether they love her or hate her. As always, we will see soon™.
When we know the outcome of the battle of Loarderon, well this is disapointing :/.The horde just ends the Darkshore battle with a total victory, and burned a whole world tree, while the Alliance is just denied a true victory on Loarderon. We still wait the last cinematic of the battle of loarderon :) !Horde is too pushed ahead yet, i hope it will reverses 8.1 or further.
Really, i have read all of the comments (25 pages so far) and i can't believe people talking about Hittler, genocide, ww2, nukes, just because a game.In my opinion, a good villain it's what it makes a good story really good. Can't imagine Star Wars without Darth Vader, Batman without the Joker (insert your favourite good vs evil story here).I'm gonna give my best trying to be one of the villains you alliances deserve and make my little contribution to make your story (and mine) good.Best regards. I'll see you in the battlefield.
I'm looking forward to a Blood Elf rebellion commanded by Lor'themar (cos Liadrin seems to be happy with a zombie leader) since we are following the MoP scenario already. But Theron is a little too cowardly at the moment. I hope he gets more development.
So she just has Teldrassil burned because she's petty ane she still can't get over the fact Arthas killed her.Seriously, Sylvanas, what on Earth? I could get past the idea of taking over Teldrassil because, well, she had good reasons to consider it a key point to transport Azerite for the Alliance - it would not be the first nor the last war to be fought because of key resource points... but burning it because a Night Elf soldier called her out? That's going far off the deep end. She's also getting too paranoid, as the events in Before the Storm suggest.Sylvanas now feels more like a combination of Putress and MoP Garrosh. Most likely because most of her character was based around Arthas, so when he dies... writers need to think of something brand new.(Also, Sylvanas, it was not a good idea to approach Arthas of all people at melee when you were a ranged Hunter. No wonder you were killed.)
what if you like to be evil
