BOSS ABILITIES IN P1-

Melee- This boss' melees hit so hard it's worth mentioning as its own ability.
Claw Smash- Frontal Cone, long range, targets either you or Brann, one shot kill.
Horrendous Roar- AOE fear around the boss, does massive damage, can survive with large defensives but if you have reaction time it's always dodgeable.
Enfeebling Spittle- Interruptable cast, does enough DOT damage to kill you but with a large defensive + offhealing yourself you can maybe survive.
Regenerating Carapace- Interruptable cast, heals the boss for 10% of his HP.
Angler's Web- Straight line frontal, if it hits you the boss sucks you in and instant kills you.
Call Web Terror- Spawns a cocoon along the outer walls of the arena that begins a timer, if the cocoon does not die before the timer hits 0, a spider spawns.

Spider Abiliites-
Melee (it hits fairly hard, worth mentioning)
Web Blast- Interruptable cast, stuns you for 4 seconds and hits for a large chunk of damage.
Spider is vulnerable to all forms of CC.

BOSS ABILITIES IN P2-

EVERYTHING FROM BEFORE
Unending Spines- rocks will begin falling from the ceiling. I don't know what they do, didn't get hit by one.
The boss will open void portals that teleport you to a different void portal if you walk through one. Easy enough to avoid these, but if you are trapped damaging a cocoon near a few of these and a frontal comes up, it can get hectic.
Blood soaked carapace- another interruptable cast that I did not let go off. I assume it heals the boss for considerably more than the p1 version.

How I did Let Me Solo Him on day 1 of Zekvir's Lair release.

ilvl 591 DK, tried a few too many dozen attempts as tank, realized it's EXTREMELY RNG reliant to do as a tank with this low of ilvl, because you do not have the damage to kill the cocoons and must rely fully on Brann to do it for you. If he doesn't kill them, a spider comes out that also trucks you with melees, does a cast that stuns you, and basically ensures you will wipe as soloing means you have your kick and... Brann's kick (sometimes). All this to say it's possible as a tank spec, but it requires fantastic play, extremely good rng, and patience.

I did not have that much patience, I switched to Unholy DK, found that the boss hp went up about 10%, his damage went down about 65%, and with Brann tanking the boss, you are free to contribute much more damage to the cocoons.
My exact strat was this-

Go full ST spec, this makes it much easier to nuke down the cocoons before they produce any problematic spiders. I started the fight doing a normal, non-cooldown rotation to the boss letting Brann build aggro. When the boss summons the very first cocoon, send everything on it. When the cocoon dies, try to use the rest of your damage to nuke the boss to phase 2 before he spawns another cocoon. The boss will get a 99% damage taken debuff, so as your cooldowns wear off this is a good time to regenerate some resources. Upon phasing, the boss will gain the abilities listed above in p2, and it's basically the same gameplay as P1 except there's more things to dodge. Kill the cocoons, if you fail to and a spider comes out, try to kill the spider. You can choose to ignore a cocoon and burn the boss at the end. Just make sure you don't get stunned by a web blast because it can easily end your attempt. You can use AMS as a dk to soak web blast damage + negate the stun, or use AMS on enfeebling spittle when you don't have an interrupt available. Other classes will know how to use their immunities and utility better than me.

This is all I have to add, I'm not sure I got all the ability names correct, and sorry for any info I missed, but hopefully this helps you prep for soloing Zekvir and getting your Void schematic, good luck!

Just beat Zekvir on tier 2, and opened both chests at the end, but didn't get the void schematic. I forgot to check if the boss himself had dropped it, but I was luckily able to find it in my mail (with a message from the postmaster saying they found a lost item, which is what makes me think it drops from Zekvir himself) so if you came here, because you didn't have the Void Dirigible after beating Zekvir make sure to check your mail, and remember that you need to beat tier 2, not tier 1, and you need to be solo in order to get it. you cannot get this in a group.

also as a side note the title (Ascension Breaker) for beating tier 2 solo or with a group is account wide which is nice. I was disappointed when the Immortal Spelunker title wasn't.

as for the fight itself, I did this as an Item level 607 Survival hunter, (orignally started as MM, but found that my dps was better as survival, and the mastery made me take a little less damage from his auto attacks as well.)

The strategy posted by Callmetog where they used brann to tank has been hotfixed, and will no longer work. I set Brann to healer, since Zekvir's auto attacks hit for 1/3rd of my hp, but using brann's potions I was able to heal myself through it. I also used the Relic of Sentience curio so brann would toss down more potions as i used them, and the Idol of the Earthmother curio for the absorb to be able to take the autos a little better.

if you are a hunter like me, I recommend turning off the auto cast on Growl. Zekvir's autos will 1 shot your pet, and since BM and Survival really need their pet, you need that pet alive for as long as possible. the pet is still useful as Marksmanship for lust and leech as well, but it doesn't need to be alive for that. you can also dismiss your pet before the pull and cast lust at the last second for Lone Wolf as a Marksmanship hunter to get both Bloodlust and the damage bonus from Lone Wolf.

as for pet choice, I recommend Ravagers, Carrion Birds, Wasps, or Scorpids since they are Ferocity meaning they have leech to help you stay up slightly better, but more importantly have Bloodlust for a dps buff, and they also have Mortal Wounds to reduce Zekvir's healing. you obviously don't want Zekvir to heal himself at all, but you don't need damage reduction or dodge pets since they're not tanking, and the room is quite small which would make kiting difficult, so you don't need a slow either. a dispell pet may sound useful at first, but they can only dispell themselves, not you, and they don't get hit by Zekvir's spit, so that won't be useful to you either.

If you are a Beast Mastery hunter you might be able to use Spirit Beasts instead for their heal as well, but i think it's too small to make any meaningful difference, and you would lose Bloodlust, so i think Ravagers, Carrion Birds, Wasps, or Scorpids would be a better pick, but at the end of the day the difference between a mortal wounds pet, and a non-mortal wounds pet is pretty small, so you don't actually NEED a mortal wounds pet, I just think they would be more useful than any other pet.

for all classes, phase 1 goes like this

Claw smash - a frontal cone that expands the further you are away from the boss (obviously, because it's a cone.) don't stand in it. it will 1 shot you. try to stay near the boss if you can to make this easier to dodge.

Angler's Web - a frontal line that will pull you in and then deal damage. this was almost always a one shot for me, but if you do survive, it will also slow you.

Horrendous roar - an aoe fear that also deals damage to you. this one would hit for about half my health, so it might not kill you outright, but I'd usually get melee'd or coned by zekvir during the fear, so this will probably kill you too.

Enfeebling Spittle - a kickable spell that will put a dot and slow on you and brann. if you can live the spit, you don't want to kick this, because your kick will not be back for the heal, you can use magic dispells, or abilites that remove snares (such as Disengage, when talented into Posthaste) to remove the spit. if you have Brann set to healer he can also dispell you. if brann is on dps he can kick it for you too.

Regenerating Carapace - A kickable spell that will heal Zekvir for 10% of his health (or 8% with Mortal wounds). Kick this.

Call Web Terror - probably the most important part of the fight- this will summon an egg that will begin hatching. the egg must die before it hatches or it will summon an add. if the Web Terror hatches it will cast Web Blast, which will hit both you and Brann, dealing lots of damage (roughly half my health) and stunning you for a few seconds. this can be kicked, but then you will not have a kick for Zekvir's heal. if you fail the dps check and the Web Terror spawns, it can be CC'd, so you can use spells like Intimidate to get a little bit more damage in before the spider kills you.

if you can kill this add, you can kill the boss. I could be wrong (and please correct me if i am), but I don't think Zekvir has an enrage timer, so the fight can last as long as it needs to, as long as you don't die, and the web terror is probably going to be what kills you the most especially as melee, since the boss will be putting his aoes on the egg, and you obviously won't be able to dps it when there's a cone or fear on it.

Phase 2

tier 2 adds a second phase at 60% hp. he will run into the center of the room and gain 99% damage reduction for a few seconds before phase 2 starts. luckily this gives you a little time to finish off an egg without having to worry about your hp if there happens to be one up.

in addition to all the mechanics from phase 1, 3 mechanics now have added effects, and there is 1 new mechanic in phase 2.

Angler's Web will now summon portals around him that he'll shoot the webs into, just move away from the portals, and the web won't hit you.

Horrendous Roar - now becomes Infinite Terror - an aoe fear like before, except now the fear is infinite. don't worry though, the damage was increased as well so it will probably just 1 shot you instead. in addition to this, Infinite Terror will also launch 4 orbs out of the fear, these will also kill/fear you.

Regenerating Carapace - now becomes Blood-Infused Carapace - heals for 25% instead of 10% (or 20% with Mortal Wounds).

he also has one new ability called Unending Spines - this will make a lot of circles on the ground, that deal damage shortly after they appear. do not stand in them, they will 1 shot you.

it should go without saying, but I'll add it anyway, you can use damage immunity spells such as Aspect of the Turtle, Divine Shield, or Ice Block (unless you have Ice Cold talented) to avoid any of these mechanics if you think you are going to mess them up. all of these spells have pretty long cooldowns however, so try not rely on them too much, and only use them if you get caught in a bad spot where you are too far away to get out of the cone for example.
