Mists of Pandaria: Vanity Items
After previewing all the
rare elites and their vanity drops
recently, we're taking a look at the rest of the fun items in Mists of Pandaria. There are disguises, pets, picnic baskets, and trinkets with fun visual procs. to name a few!
While quest rewards use a dynamic system in Mists of Pandaria, there's still some neat vanity items everyone gets, regardless of spec. And there's collectable items from dungeons, scenarios, and reputation vendors too.
Questing
Vale dos Quatro Ventos
Vale dos Quatro Ventos
has the most vanity rewards out of all the zones. Fortunately, many are available early on while questing.

Mists of Pandaria Loot Tables and Dungeon Journals
We've been holding off on posting the encounter journals and loot tables until they've gotten more filled out. Last Friday's patch, however, seems to have added a lot of data: there are loot tables and a lot more abilities added! The only journals that seem incomplete are the world bosses, which makes sense as they are probably deciding what mounts and rare items to assign them.
Be sure to check out each bosses and their back stories as well--
Saltallus
is by far the most menacing of this expansion!
Raids
Straddling the mountain range between the Jade Forest and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, the Terrace of Endless Spring has been a sacred refuge for millennia. Its peaceful fountains are said to have the power to heal and rejuvenate, but when the Sha of Fear attacked, many of the complex's guardians turned on each other in fits of terror.

Mists of Pandaria: Leatherworking Overview (Updated for 5.4)
This guide provides an overview of the additions and changes to Leatherworking in Mists of Pandaria.
Leatherworkers in Mists of Pandaria get powerful bracer enchants, as well as new types of BoP leg kits. They can make new PvP and PvE armor for both leather and mail users, as well as sell leg kits for all melee dps.
Patch Updates
New to Patch 5.4, Leatherworkers can craft ilvl 476 PvP and ilvl 553 epic recipes. These recipes are learned when crafting
Pelego Magnífico Endurecido
, which is used for the new reagent
Pelego Magnífico Endurecido
.
Molde: Magnificência do Couro
and
Molde: Magnificência de Escamas
are new world drops in 5.2. When crafting them, you have a chance to learn the recipe for a new
ilvl 458 PvP gear or ilvl 522 epic
item. There is also a new Leatherworking bag.
Profession Perks
There are three types of leg armor kits Leatherworkers can put on their own gear for only
Fio de Etérnio
. These kits have more useful stat combinations than in the past. There are no more attack power kits for dps--instead there is one with agility and one with strength. These kits all require 575 skill and level 80:

Azeroth in Sanctuary: WoW References in Diablo III
With Diablo III out this week, we suspect you haven't totally be focusing on WoW these past few days. We've been having a blast in Sanctuary too, and noticed little details that reminded us of Azeroth along the way, like constantly killing Community Manager Zarhym.
Finding little details like that is a ton of fun, so we put together a list of references between the two games: both references to WoW found in Diablo III, and references to Diablo I and II found in WoW. The Diablo items listed are from our sister site,

Best in Show: A Guide to All Shirts
Shirts can't be transmogged, but a well-chosen one can change the look of everyday gear. They're not restricted by class or armor limitations, so nothing is out of reach for avid collectors. They're great for both bank alts, players looking to cover up skin, or show off a rare find.
Plus, Ashelia has always wanted a shirt guide, and since this week marked a year for her at Wowhead, I thought it was a good time to write such a guide!
I've organized all the shirts by color, as well as providing descriptions, acquisition methods, and crafting materials. The descriptions are more elaborate than in the past--besides a written blurb, there's toggled user-submitted screenshots for every shirt.

A Guide to Collecting TCG Vanity Items
TCG items have long been the highlight of many Wowhead contests, thanks to our friends at
Cryptozoic
, and I personally love collecting TCG mounts and giving pet codes to friends! Not all players know about them though, besides going 'cool mount' when they see someone in a major city, so here's everything you need to know about them.
Before I list all the TCG items, their details, and equivalent items, here's some basic facts:
As part of the Trading Card Game, there are three cards in every new set that have special codes which can be redeemed for loot! These loot cards vary in rarity--generally there will be a commonly-acquired pet card, a somewhat-rare novelty item, and an extremely-rare mount.
To get your item, first you will need to go to WoW's
Promotion Page
and enter in the 25-digit code. This will then give you an in-game code that can be redeemed by Landro Longshot in Booty Bay.
If you're uninterested in testing your luck with random packs of cards, there are alternate ways to get loot cards--for a price. Any TCG card or the exact code written on the card may be sold for real life money and not in-g

Darkmoon Despoiler: A Guide to Farming Darkmoon Artifacts
The Darkmoon Faire is back in town and it's time to start collecting tickets again for all those new vanity items. While there are mini-games and profession quests to help you along, the bulk of your monthly tickets will come from turning in special Darkmoon artifacts, so it's time to get farming! As it appears players are unable to farm low-level instances for artifacts now, we've listed all the possible bosses that drop them.
You will need
Guia do Aventureiro de Negraluna
in your inventory to be eligible to loot these artifacts. It can be obtained by talking to
Selina Severo
at the Faire or
Anfitriã da Feira de Negraluna
/
Anfitriã da Feira de Negraluna
outside the portal.
As a maximum of 145 tickets can be acquired per month, and 80 of these tickets come from item turn-ins, this is definitely something you want to farm if you're after mounts, pets, or look-alike heirloom gear.
You can continue to loot duplicate artifacts if you already have one in your inventory. However, you cannot turn in duplicate artifacts in the same month.
Artifacts drop from specific areas--certain types of bosses (humanoids, reptiles, casters, etc), raids, or from enemies in PvP.
Several PvP artifacts appear to be bugged and cannot be redeemed at the Faire this month. T

Questing in Cataclysm: The Best Quests and Rewards
With a bit of a break this holiday weekend, it's time for an old-fashioned quirky guide--this time on quests and fun quest rewards.
Around a year ago, the revamped 1-60 content was unveiled, providing players with a fresh way to complete Loremaster! While most everyone is focused on the end-game now, sadly only viewing quests as Molten Front dailies, there's many interesting quests and rewards along the way. With 4.3 on the horizon, take some time before the chaos starts up again to check out some of the following quests. From silly to serious, you'll learn a bit about Azeroth's lore and collect some unique rewards along the way.
The first table covers interesting quest chains (by no means a complete list!), organized by continent. The second table covers quirky quest rewards--gear, pets, mounts, fun trinkets, consumables, disguises, and more! (Disclaimer: mild spoilers.)
Quests
Some old favorites were removed in Cataclysm--from small chains like saving Trey Lightforge in Felwood, to epic chains like Fallen Hero of the Horde. But there's still something for everyone, whether you're interested in completing
Loremaster
or just want a fun

Dev Watercooler - The Great Item Squish (or Not) of Pandaria
The item level and stat inflation on gear gets more and more pronounced between expansions--or even new patches. The devs wanted to touch upon this problem at BlizzCon, but ran out of time. In this Dev Watercooler, they address the problems related to stat budgets and propose several solutions. Nothing is set in stone, but the solutions are really interesting to analyze.
We've also got some minor changes to 4.3 PTR patch notes at the end of the post. Of particular note is that Tol Barad Veteran now requires 25 wins, down from 100, and Death Knight pets now properly inherit their master’s crit and spell penetration stats.

But several of us did bring up the issue with players and media we talked to, and it even ended up in at least one FAQ, so we figured we’d go

Hallow's End Guide (Oct. 18th - 31st)
It's that time of the year again--ghosts and goblins, witches and warlocks unite!

Hallow's End is one of my favorite holidays in World of Warcraft. Running from from
October 18 - October 31
, the holiday invites players to gather candy, wands, food, masks, and even vanity pets from inn keepers all over the in-game world.
Event Changes
Before we get onto our guide, we'd like to cover the immediate changes for those who already are familiar with the event. There are quite a few with this event for this year, including new items and a new currency system:
Gostosura Travessa
.
Gone are the days of trick-or-treating hourly for a chance at an extremely rare mask or a rare vanity item. Instead, the event has been streamlined into a vendor and daily system, very similar to
Jardinova
. One new vanity pet,
Familiar Felino
, makes its appearance here on a vendor, for example; meanwhile, old favorites, such as
Aboborito Sinistro
have been made purchasable. There's also
Caixote Sinistro
from a short questline and
Homenzinho de Palha
from vendors which is a fun campfire.
Tricky treats are obtained through dailies and the pumpkins spread throughout in

4.3 Dragon Soul Raid Drops
Last night's PTR patch let us see what will drop from the new raid instance, as the dungeon journal was updated for the Dragon Soul bosses finally.
Some notes: the items themselves aren't entirely done nor is this by any means a final draft of the loot and its ilevels. We think the stats are fairly accurate; however, their names are obviously generated with the "Horrific" prefix and some of their text is erroneous, like the season 10 item or the multiple ones that require Avengers' of Hyjal reputation. Still, this serves as a great basis for what's dropping where--as well as what type of boss you'll be facing, lootwise. I mean, Spine of Deathwing is looking like a trinket boss to us!

Transmogrification, Part 6: A Guide to all Cloak Styles
For the most up-to-date version of this guide,
for additional capes and MoP styles.
Capes are the bane of transmogrification. There's so many options, they're never designed to match specific tier, and some of them cut into your cool weapons. Although there's a "show/hide cloak" option, hiding it is the easy way out.
This past week, Ashelia and I went through over a thousand capes in the database, sorting them by similar models for a different project and we decided to make it into a guide. With this guide, you can find the perfect cape to match the removed ones from Trial of the Grand Crusader, a crafted cape that's identical to a raid epic you've never seen, a completely unique model from a quest reward, or even a blue-quality version of your favorite tattered grey cape.
The capes have loosely been categorized by Unique Designs, Patterned, Two-Tone, Solid with Border, and Faction. From there, the capes have been further categorized as medium (hip-length), long (ankle-length), and split (two rectangles ending at waist). We've provided screenshots of all the capes we own, and you can always use

4.3 5-man Dungeon Drops
We managed to get the loot tables for the 5-mans (prettied up by resident volunteer Neutronimity, thanks!)--this is probably a lot more helpful than our datamined list of items as these show what will drop from where and what stats you can start looking forward to picking up.
A quick rundown of the items: they're ilevel 378 and surprisingly solid stats. The trinkets were taken from Bastion of Twilight and Blackwing Descent in procs and on uses, making them equally solid; whose death knight alt wouldn't want to nab a

4.3 Preliminary Guide: 3d Models, Items, Holiday Changes, and More
4.3 news is finally here and it's a dataminer's paradise. Perculia and myself have spent the past six and a half hours going through the
1600+ items
on Wowhead's PTR site and summed up our first impressions: what's new, what's cool, and what's useful. Below you'll find everything in this build; from epic gem stats, new vanity pets, and an explanation of preliminary item levels, this mini-guide should prove helpful if you hate database hunting. We've also highlighted some of the radical class changes, putting them next to Ghostcrawler's commentary from earlier today.
Oh, and we have some cool models to share--if you're into that sort of stuff.
One quick thing: take all of this with a grain of salt. This is the first build of this patch's PTR. It's messy, it's unforgiving, and it's definitely a few cards short of an entire Darkmoon Faire deck.

NPC Fashion: Dress Like Your Favorite Character
Want to look like Inquisitor Whitemane, or maybe Tyrande Whisperwind? Following the recent series of Transmogrification guides, I've gotten a ton of feedback emails asking about the armor worn by distinctive NPCs.
We've compiled a quirky list of favorites--both celebrity NPCs and lowly grunts--so you can dress up like your favorite hero or villain. Most outfits are fine for mogging (of course, the NPC's outfit has to match your character's primary armor type), but if you want to get the *exact* look to match some NPCs, you'll have to mix armor types. (If you think of another NPC that should be on the list, I'd be happy to look up matching armor and add it to the guide.)
There's also numerous inaccessible pieces of armor worn by NPCs (cough, the shield worn by the
Guardião da Delegação de Luaprata
)--perhaps the Darkmoon Faire will introduce some of these fun recolors and robes in 4.3! Personally, it would neat to see Ysera's armor in game, or Thrall's.
The Visual Roleplayer's Gear List
and
Kirina's Closet
were invaluable resources in compiling this list--we've featured some of their creations and you should check them out for even more NPC ideas!
