Killsaw rare is located in The Fleeting Forest Mechagon.

He can be anywhere in the The Fleeting Forest, there is multiple spots, so just run around and search for him if you really need this rare.

The dailies today were for Venture company in the area and he doesn't seem to be spawning.

Spawned the past two days (Chromie and Aid nordrassil)

He felt like he had a way longer spawn time than other rares while flying around the forest waiting for him, seeing several same rare call outs before seeing him, so it got me thinking about whats different. While I can't be certain, I believe killing Sawblade Clearcutters has a chance to be Killsaw on respawn. (Which would also explain why he couldn't be up during venture co daily, since Sawblade Clearcutters couldn't be up)

Killsaw has a chance to span when you kill the Sawblade Clearcutter mobs in the area. Can verify this after doing it on 4 separate toons this morning; it took about 10-20 mins of farming before he spawned. So this also explains why he won't spawn on days when the Venture company is up.

do i force spawn him? saw/read wowhead ppl say they kill 5-6 robots at his area and he spawn.

i kill on dk that has mecha trinket and hack card, like 100 over and hour and never spawn, just randomly

if i can force spawn him. do i need the trinket or just go there and kill

or i just w8 over an hour (that i have notice is his respawn) and look pretty?

The most annoying rare ever.
Probably has some sort of cutter count like king gakula because i have been waiting for an hour and a half, killing clearcutter from time to time and it didn't spawn. This is just bogus.

Venture company can not be present. He doesn't spawn when they are around.

After 3+ weeks of consistently farming this guy on two characters for the toy Mechagonian Sawblades , I am thoroughly convinced that the drop rate stat is "off". Which has prompted me to install the wowhead client in order to help provide a more accurate experience. ;)

I've been looking for this guy for a while now only to discover that he is NOT a typical rare; as in, he does not appear on the minimap as a star and thus will not trigger most rare scanners. You're going to have to physically look or macro :) He spawned at 38, 42 for me.

Update: I've seen him as both a silver dragon rare (during the aid from nordrassil quests day) and normal mob - when I killed him as a normal mob he still counted for my achievement. I would simply keep an eye out for both.

Focus-farmed the toy he drops on multiple alts. Was averaging 5 kills/day and got it roughly after 50 kills (random encounters since Mechagon release + focused farm over last couple of weeks).

Experienced following scenarios:

1) rare up when I arrive;
2) rare spawns after just a few kills (<10);
3) rare spawns after ~1h+ of non stop killing (100+ robots);
4) rare just pops when i kill a dozen robots and hang in the air for 5-30 min (a few times it was a dead shard in the middle of the night).

So most likely he spawns when two conditions are met: hidden timer + amount of robot kills (see #4 above).

Tips:

a) Tracking addons help. For example, with Tom Cat's Tours, you can see his spawn on a map without flying around. When you hang above the road leading to the shore, "crossed swords" icon is visible even in the pocket next to Arachnid Harvester - no need to move. Just sit there with the map open.

b) If you farm on multiple alts - maximize your shards: either use toons from different servers or split them between warmode On/Off shards. Then you just go through the list mixing different shards in to avoid hidden timer.

At the end my most efficient tactic was to kill ~10 robots then afk with world map open above the road leading to the shore. Once rare spawns, kill it and switch shard (different server or different warmode setting to avoid hidden timer). Alternatively, if rare doesn't spawn right away after 10 kills you can try opposite warmode shard (guaranteed to be different from current one) to check if hidden timer expired there, then come back.

Considering this NPC has its own spawn locations distinct from the Sawblade Clearcutters in the area and it doesn't announce when it spawns like Gear Checker Cogstar does, that tells me it's just a normal rare with a fairly long respawn. The only link to the Clearcutters seems to be that Killsaw also won't spawn on days the Venture Co. is in the area, but I think that's just because every NPC in the area is replaced and Killsaw's included.

No one was clearing Sawblade Clearcutters and Killsaw spawned. Probably just a long respawn time on non-venture co days.

Having sat here each day for about 3 weeks solid I offer the following reasonably accurate information:

* Spawn timer seems to be about 2 hours (I have seen shorter and longer, but 2 hours was most common)
* Wait at location 42.42, 39.21 in stealth and none of the patting mobs will attack or see you
* Rare Scanner picks Killsaw up in almost every location sitting here
* I did die sometimes if people ran mobs over me while I was tabbed out and they hit me on the way through

From my observations of camping him on multiple toons he has a minimum spawn timer of 45 minutes and does not require Clearcutter kills, I've had multiple spawns in areas that had all clearcutter mobs present.

My friend needed Killsaw for the "Rest in Pistons" achievement. I had read another commenter say that killing Sawblade Clearbutters can force spawn Killsaw, and it takes 15 to 20 or so minutes. We arrived at the spawning zone and my friend and I started to kill Clearcutters (very quick respawn). 20 minutes of back to back killing them yielded nothing, no spawn. We literally almost gave up and I said "how about another 5 minutes, it's possible we could be close." Not even 5 minutes later of killing some more Clearcutters Killsaw spawned. Got the kill for him.

NOTE: Some rares will yell when they spawn or are about to appear on the map. Harvester, Seaspit, and another trogg rare do this. Killsaw DID NOT. My friend simply spotted Killsaw on the minimap as a gold star, hovered over the star and confirmed it was him.

It's known that the 2 Mechagon mounts can drop on a class trial, but I just wanted to confirm that the toy from Killsaw can drop on a class trial as well, Took me 28 tries.
