The Waking Dream and We Have the Technology straight up invalidate the others. Make it AotC and 5 Mask Horrific Vision and they'll be in line.

None of the people complaining about how people who only did LFR will be able to mentor were ever going to do it themselves anyway. You do not have the patience to teach a new player.
itt should be 2400 pvp rating and mythic n'zoth achieve req to weed out trolls and casuals. Also what rewards to mentors get? $10 bnet balance per week sound legit unless this is just blizz sneaky way to get away with slavery
This is the same mentor system concept like Final Fantasy XIV and I think the achievements are too easy to get. The requirements should be higher because you don't want just anyone being a mentor. Comes with years of experience and I've been around since the end of Classic. They should at least have a split system, like combat mentors or profession mentors.
Honestly, I think blizz missed mark on what new players require in guidance. You dont need the players who are capable at the game, even if thats helpful, you need people who know things or can direct you to places where to find the information. Thats all. Newbie chat shouldnt be intended to do higher end content with newbies, sure you can help with leveling etc. But those non casual requirements do nothing unless its intended for more than answering questions. The best mentors would be people who know things newbies ask. So I would go into direction of something like 3k quests(Maybe more actually), X amount of achievement points, max level on couple of classes. You can also add those high end players with requiring to match 1 higher type of achievement, something potentially even harder than currently listed. This would be more of FF14 mentor system where you have different types of mentors(PvE, PvP, trade). If you target different type of players properly, you`ll get wider spectrum of knowledge.Imo attitude is far more important than any knowledge somebody might have. If you arent interested in helping, no matter what you know isnt helpful for newbies. On other hand even if you cant clear harder content, having right attitude and being able to direct people for places where to find the information they need is still helpful. Newbie guidance doesnt need to be perfect, it should be bout getting them started with basic info/tools to get themselves where they want to be. And for that you want people who have wide variety of interests in game(achievements) and have done things newbies will be doing(Qeusts mostly). And if you have spent significant time with this game I imagine you`re able to answer basic questions. Not saying more proficient information isnt good hence you target high end players witn singular high end achievement completion for that but bulk of ppl should be just people who know how to direct newbies into finding things they need.
Anyone with these current requirements is probably going to know enough about the game to help out a completely new player with basic questions. I seriously doubt Guides are meant to teach new players how to kill mythic bosses or do +20 keys.I think the entire concept is a bad idea to begin with, though. Dollars to doughnuts there's going to be so much more trolling than actual helping that it will probably become pointless.
Hey guys, hello, I'm somebody who's always mentored in games I play - whether they have systems in place for it or not. I know a LOT about helping newbies, how to avoid overwhelming them, rounding out what I personally know in the systems of the game, plus lore (ie 'why are we doing this in x zone, why is x happening, what's the story of current raid etc)And I'm... really disappointed with the comments about gatekeeping, and kinda bewildered at the high standards of achievements. Any given patch, I usually have achieves relating to solo, open world and LFR. Although I do PvP, it's only casual, since I prefer solo content (so I don't usually have groups of friends to help queue) and am online at weird times. I can do raiding beyond LFR just fine (usually up to AotC) but get headaches from being on mic with a group for so long lolI understand gatekeeping trolls. I hope there's a good reputation system in-line with this to help weed them out. But, otherwise, why do you guys care, unless you're applying for the system and already helping out people? I don't have loremaster (been working on it but I joined in WoD and whew that's a lot of content to get through), I will never have a current PvP title, and I don't have AotC unless it rewards something. You guys are simply asking too much Even of the actual achieves listed right now, I only have two, and barely. I actually got Mad World before We Have the Technology lmao... because I really don't like Visions as content... ;;; And N'zoth I actually haven't managed to kill on LFR, but have on Normal and Heroic. If anybody has N'zoth LFR... I applaud you. It's harder than KJ and G'huun LFR, my godAnyways! I hope Blizz only listens to the people who actually wish to be part of this and already go out of their way to help newbies. I wish there was an actual achievement for knowing story lol, because honestly that's what I'm asked the most, and can't be answered by a quick WoWhead search
What is the reward system for being a mentor?
