It sounds like they are taking away something we've had for 17 years (steady flying) and then making us earn back the right to use it. Is that right?I'm one of the apparently very few people who just hate skyriding. I'm also not real enthused by the War Within so I'm not going to buy it. But I love WoW and enjoy leveling new toons and chasing old achievements so if I want to just do that, I will be forced to skyride (or walk) only? It feels like I'm being punished.
I'll state the screamingly obvious:The skyriding / steady flight toggle should be insta-cast and castable whilst flying. If we're talking little stuff, I could handle a cool little 'slowing down' phase so that you don't go so jarringly from 700% speed to zero (as is the case with druids currently... but even that can be fun, so it's not a deal-breaker).Is there anybody who thinks that wouldn't be a HUGE win for Blizz if they implemented it?
So the toggle is necessary and I can't just have a hotkey for TBC flying and a hotkey for skyflying? I usually prefer dragonriding, but sometimes just blank out and run out of energy and prefer to land and swap to a normal mount to climb a hill or point towards my destination. If I'm reading correctly that is now not an option? I'd need to do the swap between swapping mounts each time? Not complaining just seeing if there is an option im missing once the patch goes live, thanks!
I’m unhappy with the punishing 5s cast time to switch flight styles and don’t understand why this was done. Why not 1.5s? Heck, why not instant and off the GCD so I can macro it? That would give the same functionality we all enjoyed in patch 10.2.7.It does seem like they’re deliberately leaving a single mount as steady flight only. That’s better than nothing but means I’ll likely be using the ottuk as my primary mount for all of The War Within. A single mount. I have like 800 mounts. I’m a collector. They just took my mounts away, if I want the utility of being able to quickly choose between steady and sky riding, which I do. And that makes me unhappy.
My apologies to all of you "Skyriding" lovers, but its an awful way to ride! I would rather ride on the ground to all my destinations than have to use a method of travel I despise. None of my alts use any dragonriding mounts, nor have they done the introductory Dragon Isles dragon flying quest chain. Only my main did it for the achievements and in using the Add-On "LiteMount" I have made it so I never summon a dragon riding mount.Once TWW is active I can (hopefully) turn off the skyriding permanently on every toon. If this means I go slower in questing, who cares, I don't. I've been playing for 15 years, I like things how they are and I can control what way I like to travel. I'm here to enjoy the game my way, nothing else matters or I would not be here having fun playing Warcraft. To each their own, and thanks Blizzard for not forcing me to have to use skyriding.
Whew... the toggle will be annoying for players that do use it. But... eh. There may be a semi-workaround if you play a Dracthyr. Soar isn't a mount, so hypothetically you would be able to keep steady flight active/have access to dragonriding through Soar. Unless they completely disable Soar with steady flight active? That would be annoying as hell. Ah well... at least I'm pretty good at sharp/precise landings with Soar.
They're gonna let Demon Hunters sky ride too, right! ...right?
Shouldn't it be Steady Flying available in xpac at start and then Skyriding in TWW zones at max level?I know everyone loves skyring but don't forget that steady flying has many uses:- when you want to see what is happening in different areas without rushing past it- when you need to reach branches or areas on mountains that are hard to land on with skyriding- when you are traveling a shorter distance- when you want more controlAnd many more! I use skyriding maybe 20% of the time and steady flying for 80% of the time, when flying. But always use my ground mounts more than flying.
