FOR THE HORDE! Now this is the kind of take-no-prisoners conquering attitude the Horde should have. All this peace/love/cooperate nonsense is just that. Destroy those Alliance dogs and take Azeroth for ourselves. Say it with me...FOR THE DARK LADY!FOR THE HORDE!
Horde tears are better then the sweetest candy.....And you can quote me on that.
Just you watch at the end of the expac Sylvanas will be redeemed and we will have some speech about hope while a new tree in darnasus is shown emerging from the scorched earth.
Is it really Delaryn Sylvanus was talking too? After when you go back to Darkshore to do the new WQ, Delaryn is talking to the player character.
Anyone else has a feeling this will end with the ghost of Varian and Jaina repeating their lines after the Siege of Orgrimmar? But this time, all the "dismantle the Horde" thing will happen. As a Night Elf roleplayer, I've been accepting the fact of the tree burning for a couple of months, so it doesn't hurt that much at this point, but men, I feel empathy for the Horde. I had hope that it would be an accident or something, but well, it's true that doing this kind of stuff is very Sylvanas-alike, so it doesn't surprise me.But the good thing, it's all the signs of discomfort around the Horde, they aren't simply accepting it like mindless minions (it's better seen in the books and such, but you have Nathanos questioning her a bit, Saurfang leaving her and refusing to come back to the Horde, both Calia and Lilian Voss as possible replacements with another view about the Forsaken)PS: I think the thing that is most annoying about this is not that Sylvanas is doing evil stuff, because she's been doing that since ever. It's that fake hope of "moral gray" that Blizz filled his mouth with. They should have stayed quiet, let people accept her as evil, not saying "Just wait, just wait, she's not that evil"
3 Grades:1) Artwork and script writing for cinematic (stand alone): A+ <> Art/animation was gorgeous, and could really feel the pain Sylvanas and Delaryn felt at watching their homes be destroyed.2) Overarching story impact on WoW's plot line: C+ <> I'm personally disappointed, and I think there were better options for what caused Darnassus to burn*, but Blizzard did technically make this outcome the obvious one, so we can't accuse them of sloppy/mismanaged writing (see early confusion on Garrosh during Cata).…Well, we can complain, because3) Promise that Sylvanas and the Horde were not evil: F <> Big, bold FAIL. Sylvanas' reasons for burning Darnassus are so blatantly evil, it actually comes across in the cinematic as being largely motivated by petty spite. While during the quests she claimed that she planned to occupy/control Darnassus as a port, the cinematic implies that she changed her mine after being goaded by Delaryn. That's a kind of evil that boarders on psychotic. Alternatively, she might have planned to burn the tree down the whole time, and lied about it to get more of the Horde to support her… which is also incredibly evil, just a different kind.I will admit that there is still room for her to prove she is not "Lich Queen" level evil*, but she is at least, at least, "Garrosh 2.0" evil. And if Bliz claims "the Horde's not evil, not everyone approves of what she did!", then she really is Garrosh 2.0, to the point that it's just lazy writing.**** Further explaining these three points might lead to off topic discussion, will save for another time.
""""""""""""""""morally grey"""""""""""""""""""""
Sylvanas is committing one war crime after another. But this one takes the cake. I would think that if the population of Teldrassil was taken into account, scaling it to Earth-like proportions, she needlessly murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. If not millions. Because FEELINGS. She could have still occupied it, and choked off the Alliance from Kalimdor.
I play a lot of Tauren. This is going to be really hard to justify being okay with, with nothing else but 'taunted by a NPC' as a reason.
And with those two words, another warchief dies.dammit blizzard U_UDammit all to hell.
Oh %^&*ing hell. I think I was the last one defending Blizzard about their "morally grey" bull!@#$, because I was so sure the Burning of Teldrassil would be a genius twist, like Anduin ordering to burn the tree to stop the Horde from conquering it, or Tyrande herself against the advice of her husband. This is just poor writing. Extremely predictible, feels extremely forced. Excrutiatingly terrible.
