I'm still here and will be playing Mists, mainly so I can see the downfall of Garrosh ;)I have already left TOR long time ago and don't see myself going back. majority of my friends quit a few weeks after hitting 50. Have left TERA as well. Currently killing my time with PvP and some TSW (The Secret World). Don't see myself going to Guild Wars 2, never got into it and probably never will. I'll probably stick with WoW as long as it keeps going with TSW on the side for a little fresher. This is all MMOs ofc. Not to mention Dawnguard, Dishonored and Diablo 3 in the mix.I don't see WoW dropping from the Top 3. And to agree with Adamsm, I highly doubt most people quit because of the introduction of Pandas. I play the game for the content, not one race that has been added. People are quitting because it's one of those down times between expansions. It has happened to the previous expansions. People will come back.
Or maybe the userbase will =)
A lot of the guys here discounted the fact that free to play games doesn't necessarily mean it's low quality/ boring. Or we won't see league surpassing wow as the most popular MMO. 1.1M drop in a 3 month period (over 10% loss) is alarming because blizzard to gaming industry is like microsoft/ IBM to computer industry. (First time Jobs left apple anyone?)
Because there is currently nothing to do in WoW besides repeating the same raids and BGs over again. I don't blame the losses.
Exactly dude. If Cata had more to do then just a bunch of rehashed stuff, they would have increased subs. And yes, Just because it's old doesn't mean it will die. Not being a Blizz fanboy or anything. Obviously a big mistake on Blizz's part right there.
They aren't all coming back. A lot of my friends that dropped want nothing more to do with the game. They did not go into another MMO-RPG*. They went into things like World of Tanks and Minecraft for Pete's sake! So what I see is more genre burnout than anything. As time goes by people/players change. What worked 5-6 years ago for a while in Vanilla and BC may well not work anymore. ::cough:: atttunements ::cough:: But in the end it boils down to people are not willing to devote as much time to playing as before. This imo gives impetus to reduce the number of required grinds. For example while there have been other reasons given by Blizz for getting rid of the head and shoulder chants I think reducing the required faction grinds** was a large part of their calculation. When it comes to adjusting to the changes in its player base Blizz has too often either been a little slow to make alterations or in a very few cases made the wrong ones. And even when they moved in the right direction there were negative consequences that pissed people off. For example the 25 man to 10 man shift has resulted in a lot of homogenization that many don't like. The LFR system allows lesser skilled players to raid destroying the e-peeness of being a raider. etc. etc.But we will know shortly whether or not MoP is going to be a revival or not. I would think that when 5.04 hits anyone coming back will resub since their talents have to be redone and they have to relearn how to play. The smart way is before MoP and before you spend a bunch of money on the X-pac only to discover the thrill is gone.* One friend did go back to doing RP on Lotro (very little pve)** Non required faction grinds differ in that you can do them more when you choose rather than you have to do them now.
theyll come back. the scarlet monastry is gunna make ebery body come back
