I will prob unsubscribe because I dislike how they took away so many talent points...Ret pally damage and heals used to be so fun. Why did people feel like so many talents took away from the game? The variance it allowed one spec as was fun.
If you plotted the WoW sub using stock market candles...the bull doji star candle was the Ulduar release patch. It's been a bearish trend ever since.I said many times before..long term trends don't zig-zag, they have a current that takes them up or down.Yes... there will be a momentary spike come the start of MoP as there was at the start of Cata. But the short term sub spike of Cata didn't translate into anything long term. Funny...I recognize a few posters who have used the expression "rose colored glasses" towards players reminiscing about WoW being better in the past....time for you guys to take them off in regards to Sub losses,"YOUR" game isn't as good as it was during Van/TBC and that's why subs keep dropping. No matter the reason you give...if it's better then the reason to play, then the game needs fixing.I hope MoP is the start of that long term fix that sends subs back up again.
I'm no Blizzard fanboi; however, I have to say that 9 million subscribers for a game approaching 10 years old is pretty good and a success by any measure. My only wish is that they'd start consolidating servers so that it would "feel" like it did a couple years ago...Seriously, who cares about what people "say" ..no one is going to quit just because of server merges. I don't know why companies have been so shy about that in the past. It's as though the merges caused the merges ..lol.
Probably just people taking a break since Pandaria has been announced. They will be back. In fact I bet Pandaria will bring in a lot of new subscribers as well.I doubt GW2 will put much of a dent in WoW's subscriber base since it's free to play.
Yeah, this news isn't surprising. Summer slump + end of an expansion + Diablo III... that adds up for fewer players. That said, I've noticed people in this thread stopped playing "because raiding got boring." I take it no one makes alts? Or have you maxed all yours out already?
I would be interested in comparing the losses in the lull during the end of WotLK, (which *felt* longer than this lull) to the current losses. As well as the, I assume, increase at the beginning of Cata, to what happens in 2 months with MoP.Also, I just can't figure out why people who have quit WoW continue to follow and comment on news from this and other sites. Have they really quit, or are they just saying that? lolAs for me, I have the annual pass, and I took a break from WoW for about a month to play Diablo, but once the endgame farming began I got bored. Way too repetitive for me. I bought a second WoW account last month and have been leveling alts during the lull, which has been more fun than I expected. I'm excited for MoP.
I'll be coming back to WoW when I find a job and actually have money.
This doesn't surprise me at all. I've still noticed new players joining WoW anyways though.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
Did anyone really not expect this?I don't have any numbers to back it up but I've always seen activity go down quite a bit during the summer and subs always go down towards the end of an expansion cycle that's a fact.So combine those 2 along with the people who're playing D3 probably until MoP and the people who already left for GW2 considering how it'll be out in about 3 weeks. If I had to guess I'd say at least 4/5 of the 1.1 million who left will be back closer to MoP's launch
Yeah. I mean I'm an annual pass subscriber because at the time a year ago I was playing wow every day. I haven't logged in since February. I'm not planning on coming back for MoP.I wonder how many of those subscriptions are people who don't actually play?
I found this on MMO champion
I am usually a big fan of Blizzard, but i honestly hope this is a wakeup call. They simply cannot expect player to pay for 8 months with no new content.I have never played Rift, but I did play AC1.. and the rate at which those games were/are able to bring out almost monthly content patches is amazing considering their small subscriber base.Think about it? AC never had more than 200,000 players but was able to have new content patches every month. They don´t have to be full raids, even just Onyx type encounters, a new 5 man, a new quest hub etc. Those games with 200k players could do it, but Blizzard with 9M can´t? They really all have to switch to making an expansion?I honestly think the problem is GC. How much dev time has been wasted redoing the talent system every year. Have things really gotten that much better than if they had just added onto the original BC talents. Last expansion they gutted healing, this expansion they are gutting tanking.. In the end, do people think either of those things are significantly more fun now? Or could have all that dev money been spent adding and Isle of Q, or a Ruby Sanctum.. I think too much of the money GC wastes is just ´change for the sake of change´... and not really improvments. While they are changing stuff, they aren´t adding stuff.I´ve been playing my bear tank on PTR.. all I keep thinking is.. ok, this is slightly different, but it isn´t more fun or anything really interesting.. it is just a little different. Then I think about how much effort the devs wasted to do that.. In the end, all I am basically doing is pressing my defensive cd every 9 seconds rather than pulvarize every 9 seconds. ...Meanwhile.. we´ve had DS for about 9 months.TLDR- GC is wasting too much dev money changing things that aren´t broken, and instead should be adding content.
