I think that calling her "Queen" was just Blizzard mistake. At least I hope so. I think after all those years we all had enough of content based around Lordaeron/Undeads. "Undead character betrays their own people" - how many times we heard that in WoW?
Honestly, I've pretty much always assumed she exists to give us a type of Light-based necromancy that the Forsaken can ^&*! to, so they can become the long-requested Forsaken Paladins. I don't think there's real reason behind it beyond that.
I don't think Calia is evil per se in the way you portray her. In Before the Storm for example, I don't think she was working towards a grand plan or something, I think she simply could not help herself when faced by the sorrow of her own people. This matches her character as a stereotypical healer role.Same for the few times she uses her name Menethil. I don't think she uses it when it pleases her and pretend to not like it otherwise. I think she uses it despite hating it when she recognizes that it still has diplomatic values for whoever she is addressing to. There is no chance any Forsaken would have followed a random human priestess in the Gathering. The only card she could play was her name, even if it was a risky move. Same with Greymane. As a stereotypical noble, Greymane gives value to one's noble bloodline. Raised in a noble family herself, Calia knows that, and again uses the name as a diplomatic asset despite hating it.Now, while I don't think Calia is inherently evil or has some sort of hidden agenda, I very much like the theory that the light might force itself on her mind at some point. In fact, I hope it does and to Turalyon as well. First, they would make cool bosses in a light-themed expansion. Second, it would explain why Yrel didn't help us in Legion. At the end of WoD, she said "if you ever need us, we will be here" then she is nowhere to be seen in Legion whereas she could have been an easy addition in the Paladin class hall with a contingent of AU Draenei helping the war efforts. I have a hard time to believe Khadgar didn't try to contact her for help when Azeroth was in its darkest hour, therefore it must be her who did not answer the call for help. This is incredibly out of character for her. She would even have been fighting the very same foes that we just helped her fight on her world. It makes zero sense that she wouldn't return the favor. Moreover, by the time Blizzard did the WoD ending cinematic, they most likely already knew which character was going to play a role in Legion or not, so it cannot be ruled out as a simple mistake. Even if it was, it wouldn't have cost anything to quickly add a random Yrel npc somewhere just to pretend she is helping. They took the time to add Pandaren Monks in Thunder Totem and Suramar so clearly they could have rectified the Yrel oversight if they had wanted to.The whole thing is either very deliberate, or depressingly bad. Therefore, I would really really like to know that she was in fact kind of mind controlled by the Light when she didn't answer the call for help instead of believing that she just changed so much on her own. She was the best character from WoD and a fan favorite, it wouldn't make sense to ruin the character that way.One could argue they ruined Sylvanas in a similar way, but she has always been kind of an ambiguous character to begin with so it somewhat works if you don't think too hard about it. Yrel is something else entirely, she was 100% stereotypically pure of heart, heroic and all that. Her absence in Legion felt incredibly wrong to me.Maybe K'ara was in fact meant to die in the MU because it would otherwise have forced the Light on Draenor like it did in the AU? I'm very much hyped for a raid with Calia, Turalyon, Yrel and K'ara now.
Was that the Horde' ouevres?
Bold of you to assume any Forsaken player trusts her.
As usual, there is spite and venom in the comments over the wow writers and how they handle the lore. And yet you still play/talk about their game, despite your toxicity. And for all your whining about their lore, some of you aren't above butchering it yourselves the moment it becomes an inconvenience for you. It's how we got all races being warlocks and the Horde visiting the new Night Elf home despite burning down their old one.The fanbase is just to blame as Blizzard is.
she's so hot OMG
We should be wary of the cosmic forces. The Light does not have best intention for us any more than the Void, or Chaos, or Order, or Death, or Life. This does not mean Calia is not to be trusted. But we must be aware that she is vulnerable to the Light.I've expected a repeat/inversion of the Garrosh/Void storyline from Mists ever since I first learned Turalyon now sits on the throne of Stormwind.
Can't say I expect her to be evil, purely because she came in with the other slew of "strong female leads" that were being machinegunned out over the last few expansions to replace the old figureheads. I don't think the intention there was to make them antagonists.
Why shouldn't we trust her?For one thing, she blew up the already incredibly risky and fragile Alliance/Forsaken meeting. Granted, Sylvanas would never allow the reintegration to go through, but if Sylvanas wasn't a factor, Calia might have singlehandedly started another ugly war.
My fellow Horde brothers. We can't trust this crazy broad! She's like... constantly just appeasing the Alliance... by proposing cooperation instead of fomenting all-out war over nothing. Absolutely off her rocker. And she's just like... a recolored human, with ties to the Alliance. That's too sussy baka for me!Where is my REAL forsaken queen? The recolored high elf who is all sentimental and precious with the Alliance King, whose former partner is another recolored human. Who will randomly instigate wars that leave both sides desolate and in disarray. Now THAT'S what the Horde really needs in these trying times. YOU CAN'T STIFLE OUR CULTURE! WE ARE NOT THE RED ALLIANCE! WE WILL LITERALLY PERISH IF WE DON'T DO A GENOCIDE AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS.
This stuff blows.I miss the Cata era when each race had a leader looking out for their them, and sometimes the Horde and Alliance fought. This cosmic stuff isn't funny, isn't fun, and doesn't feel like wow.
great speculation! i hope you're not right, though i'm sure in some regards you will me
