I really enjoy the Covenant system. I value performance and don't like when there are large gaps in value between choices. It's a math problem they need to solve. While I often choose whatever preforms best, if the difference is minimal enough I will prioritize the option I just genuinely like playing with better. On the other hand there are players unlike me who don't care about performance an will whole heartedly make a choice based purely on the color of boots or style of cape it affords you. My two cents. Coming from someone that created a Prot Paladin and chose Venthyr over Kyrian even when mostly engaged in M+ content. I find the difference in performance in a lot of cases to be negligible enough that I don't feel bad about picking one of the "inferior" options when they feel better or are something more my preference over the theoretical best. Some abilities I just want to have and play with, but there certainly are cases where the performance gap is so great that it just doesn't feel acceptable to choose an alternative.
So what we're saying is that if I have a Kyrian Shadow Priest, Necrolord Prot Warrior, Night Fae Resto Shaman, and am working on a Venthyr lock, I'm unique?Woot me.
Ty for the effort WOWhead but "cake diagrams" would have been more useful. Not sure though if those can be easily displayed though.
I went venthyr for hpal alt and it's been super difficult to not switch for how op Divine Toll is. Now that Venthyr is becoming meta in higher keys I'm starting to feel like one of the gang again, but it's extremely hard to stay with "player choice" when the alternative is fighting "If you were X we would done better." Same issue off-meta specs deal with. In hindsight they should have done class/spec abilities from oribos (so not tied to covenant) and the cov specific ability as the option. It's not as fun or cool as being cov locked, but helps the meta issues.
I’ve stuck with my two mains that were Max level in week one’s cov choices for the mere reason that I’ve invested so much TIME in building them up. If I had to wipe that slate clean of 4+ months of progress, it would be tough to even have a desire to continue playing due to the sheer demoralization that would cause. The system is f’d.
