I have an idea. Since CE guilds are obsessed with ML, what about making ML available for these guilds -- As long as a guild is in hall of fame (top 100 CE) from the last tier, ML will be available for them for the first two weeks since mythic raiding is open. That way we get the best of both worlds!
most player who are against Masterloot are the same who wants recount/DPScheckaddons out of the game. and both because of reasons.i'm playing since 2008 in several raid guilds. Some casual, some hc/mythic progress guilds and never ever had problems with Master Loot. Personal Loot only works when the item is not soulbound and/or can be traded in any situation. Games like Guild Wars 2 for example.sell an item to a vendor if someone else could use that item is plain stupid.
Thanks for this article, I was unaware of what the top guilds did to maximize it, that's amazing ;) This challenges Bliz - do they want to fix the 0.001% problem at the expense of others or not? In the past, they have - like removing the ability to downgrade and change your M+ key. THAT change was brutal for 99% of people just to solve a 1% problem. So I'm really happy that this change *is* being gamed by the top guys, but is generally good for the masses... it's perfect as is.
As said before, get rid of the restrictions. I've scrapped so much gear this expansion because it was useless to me and I could not give it to someone else because of the nonsensical iLevel restriction. But hey, boatloads of unusable expulsom on my herbalist/alchemist is useful, right?
No one mentioned that guilds can make you to trade an item you want to another member even with PL , if it is a big stat upgrade for your spec and you are able to trade it because you have a higher ilvl item equipped then like ML the rest of the guild can force you to trade it or get kicked what difference does it make then? ML is fine , i don't get the drama part , if your guild uses ML in a toxic way then you are free to leave and join another. There are ways to make looting extremely streamlined , like dropping only certain stats on items depending your spec, or letting you reforge any stats on any item so the only thing that would matter would be the ilvl and any item effects but that would be dumb. For me the real problem is the ilvl , just remove it, let me judge if an item is better than my currently equipped and not having to deal with equipping a dumb high ilvl set of items just to get invited on a m+ or a pub and then switching to my bis items so i can do my max dps.
I believe removing the restrictions on trading would be a great thing while keeping PL otherwise unchanged.
Forced personal loot is 100% garbage. It`s nice for pug raids, but in guild runs it is very clumsy. When you can`t trade a piece because it has higher ilvl (nobody cares that your previous performs better DPS)... I don`t really need that 50g, that guy doesn`t get necessary thing - situation full of s**t, but for Blizzard it looks good. Oh yes, and because you looted something (nobody cares that thing is trash) you will get less gear later... Because Blizzard thinks it`s cool! Nice system! Wonderful mechanics! Screw it.
Unless you work for Blizzard, I'm not sure posting your editorial piece has much affect.Personal loot is here to stay mostly because of economics. Blizzard doesn't have to deal with actionable customer complaints which costs money. If the loot didn't land in your bag, it's not yours... simple answer. The fact that it solves other concerns are secondary, in my personal opinion. The other problem they solve is class-tokens and player complaints that they didn't balance gear types when they added Demon Hunter which should have been mail. With personal loot, they can ignore that problem they created. While I do agree that all loot should be able to be traded, we can only hope Blizzard comes to that same conclusion.
The only thing I don't like about personal loot is with the introduction of AP power items such as Azerite and Artifact Power stuff, I was getting about 100x more of those than loot. It's polluted the loot pool enough where getting items (upgrades or not) feels a lot rarer.
I believe your problem with Personal Loot is an issue for less than 1% of the playerbase that enjoys this game. Personal Loot fixed almost all problems that this game had with regards of looting. I've been ninja looted so many times before as I bet almost any other player has been. I lost mounts and difficult to get trinkets such as Deathbringer's Will back in Wrath so I know very well why this system is the way to go.I think your problem is more of an specific issue of Personal Loot rather than going back to Master Loot. That particular rule is in place to avoid raid leaders to kick players that don't want to give up loot to some friend of his/her.More over this rule is fair because EVERYONE is subjected to this rule. It's democratic, it's a good rule.
