For perspective, if it were freely usable by anyone, it’d become a mandatory-feeling power upgrade, and you’d see nothing but Hiveminds everywhere. Like this, it’s an awesome looking, prestigious mount, with just a tiny extra bonus.— ✨🐉 (@Celestalon) December 17, 2018

... And it was a "profanity"-show. Obviously.
I have hundreds of mounts, I'll probably still get this because it will fill my mount count as well as any other guaranteed mount but I will likely never use it as long as that restriction remains. It is ugly as sin and it's only appeal was as a multi seated flying mount, there is no prestige involved in a guaranteed mount, no matter the effort it requires.
There doesn't need to be a compromise. The mount works the way it works and you are entitled to nothing else.
The entitlement in this thread is amazing. 'give us an OP thing or we get mad!'. Get real! They don't want to make a puzzle mount mandatory, which is totally understandable.
...okay?On the one hand: I see their point. On the other hand: their point is also valid for other "they do a shiny thing" mounts, including water striders, which you see literally everywhere for obvious reasons. "Makes a single mount in your collection able to ride on water" glyph when?On the third hand: I sure am glad I'm waiting to do this with a set group of friends. On the fourth hand (starting to feel like the goddess Kali over here): I don't see myself riding this ever except with that group of friends when we want extra speed, because... I'm... kind of disinclined to look like a tentacly brain for no reason. The limitation as it stands seems like overkill.A nice solution would be to make the thing able to carry whoever - so if you want to carry four other people to a WQ or whatever you can - but limit the speed boost itself to members of your original group. But what would I know. The thing is, not all mounts are created equal. Some you use because of the extra bonus they give (water striders, passenger mounts), some you ride because they look good. Sometimes these things overlap (I do like the Sandstone Drake for example), sometimes you use a mount for the extra bonus even though it's ugly (...water striders...). Ugly mounts with no bonus tend to not get used. You hardly ever see people riding around on the Riddler's Mind-Worm, because it's fairly ugly, regardless of prestige (and it also looks almost identical, except for the color, to two other mounts, so it's not an at-a-glance prestige thing), for example.I happen to think the Hivemind is ugly, and I'm guessing a fair few other people agree with me. So, if you can only carry people who got the thing together with you (assuming the alt thing is a bug), this mount will see very little use. (Even worse if they make it so you can't use it on your alts unless you go out of your way to get it on them as well, which nobody will do because it's such a long godforsaken thing.)Whereas if you make it so anyone can link but you get the speed boost only if you link to "your" hivemind, then it becomes one of a variety of passenger mounts. People may use it or not depending on their preference. And then the speed boost is a minor cool thing.
1- They did NOT clarify this from the start so people could decided if they just want the mount and do it with strangers or with guildies/friends who they do runs together with.2- Do they really think getting 5 people to go to CoS and do the puzzle again every time they need to join with different people for few mins / hours is a good idea and good game play design?
I honestly don't understand this community anymore. There is absolutely nothing to complain about here. You want to be linked with some mates rather than randoms, do the last puzzle again.People complaining about their hardwork not being rewarded, imho, don't understand how this works. The true reward was the fact that the puzzles were created especially for the community to have some fun things to do for a few days, and all the good memories the Discord community will have. I'm sure most of them won't complain, for they had fun solving the puzzle. As for those that read the guide and complain because it still took them a few hours to get the mount... I mean, come on, look at yourself. You still have a new awesome mount, that you can use with friends if you take the time to link with them... Why complain? This is the best way to ensure Blizz won't continue with the puzzles.
They should just disable it in instances so that it only acts as a single player mount, then have it as a multi-person mount in the world that works with anyone in your party/group of five. Makes more sense that way and it doesn't mean having to run the puzzle every time you want to fly a friend around. Having to do the puzzle again just makes it feel like a let down now for me, as I'm always helping friends and flying them around on my sandstone, this would have been perfect for us.
Is there any way to find who I did it with? I don't remember...
My thoughts? There should be option for all my characters to use that mount AND to take four other people with me BUT without the 10% buff for speed (those are separated buffs, so shouldn't be a problem). And on my main (the char that obtained the mount first) for those four people that struggled with puzzles with me there should be a buff. If I play with them all the time, doing multiple activities, we should have an award. On RBG also. And when somebody did it with pug... propably took an easy way for this (I know I know, you didn't have any other options, sure). And there should not be an option to switch the group.
It's a mount that I haven't bothered to get but probably will get around to at some stage to fill out my mount numbers, yet I doubt it'll spend much time out of the stable lol (personally think it's butt ugly). I don't understand all the complaining about it having limitations EXCEPT for the following:I don't believe it should have a speed boost at all in content other than open world, otherwise the developers are going against their stated intention of it NOT being a "Must have upgrade". Can already see "LFM Mythic 10+, must have Hivemind mount - meeting at CoS for linking before run" lol. And under no circumstances should it EVER have a speed boost in BG's.I'm also concerned about the numbers of ads I'm already seeing on multiple servers selling this mount for 400k and above, to people who have no idea that they will not get the functionality they might be expecting by running it with a bought run. I know the more poisonous posters here will be laughing at people getting scammed under false pretences (and sincerely hope karma bites their butt big time), but I think it's wrong. Better implementation of this mount would have been that all stages had to be completed personally, or a message flagged as you begin the final stage explaining "You are about to link with this group to become the Hivemind. Extra functions of your mount only activate within this Hivemind group".
"if it were freely usable by anyone, it’d become a mandatory-feeling power upgrade"Except... instead, it's a mandatory feeling power upgrade even more so to do it with you 4 bestest friends that you do m+ with instead now. This rationale is completely bs. +10-40% speed for having someone jump on really isn't all that much, and should just be a removed buff in myth+ and bg's if that's the problem... I honestly couldn't care less about the buff, for me it was the ability to carry 4 passengers in a flying mount that got me wanting to do this most (like say... if I wanted to carry 4 friend's alts to boost them in old dg's). Also, having all my guildies finally have a 2seater flyer, so they can carry me on alts for once too, was a big perk. Pointless restriction. Hate it. Complete waste of an entire day working on it. *table flip*
Agree with Obbig. The speed boost should not even work in BG or other PVP instance content. Otherwise the extra speed will give premade pvp group a huge advantage over others. And once you get rid of the speed boost and the multi seater aspect, there is really not much going for this mount as there are several much better looking mounts out there than this.

Blizzard should not give speed boost in pvp instances, period. Imagine someone form a hivemind group chasing you down easily with their constant speed advantages. or capping objectives before you just because they are faster. That unfair advantage alone makes the mount compulsory in pvp settings and punishes most of the casual players. I am surprised that the developers only focus on the joining restrictions on the mount and totally ignore the implications in the pvp settings.
I didn’t realize people thought you’d be able to carry anyone on this mount, my impression was always that you could join with other hiveminds. I’m fine with the speed buff being restricted to an initial group but it would be nice if anyone with the mount could join up.
I really thought the point of this was to get a rare mount. I don't see why any mount should be faster than other mounts, didn't they put all mount speeds into riding training instead of specific mounts for a reason? I already see nothing but water striders and golems everywhere. I'm beginning to think having any mount be more than just cosmetic was a really bad idea. And that people sell and buy runs or do this in pug groups is an entirely community-made problem. It seems to happen to all things now, everything is sold as a "service" ingame out of pure greed and blizzard is supposed to accomodate that behavior. And then people complain that WoW has lost it's "sense of community".
