I don't know how people are stupid enough to think this would ever work in an MMO. It's amazing, and would easily fit in if Blizzard ever made a Witcher-like single player game in the WoW world. Give up hope that this would ever be "WoW 2."
MIND ((BLOWN)) !
Next assasins creed
Respect for your talent, it looks nice but it doesn't have that WoW feel. I prefer the durotar one or the Grizzly hills. Still, congrats
Very impressive. Obvious that a ton of high quality work has gone into this. Locations within Stormwind are instantly recognisable too! From my own taste I would have imagined Stormwind differently. It is only several years since Van Cleef and his stonemasons rebuilt the city. Not several lifetimes. So Stormwind would have a very new appearance, especially wood and stone and masonry which is not weathered.Additionally, there is a larger amount of wood and other non-stone materials used in this depiction. The pathway leading into the Mage Quarter seems rather overgrown (and weathered). In game, the walkway is very lush and well kept.In game, all stonework has rounded edges and softer textures. This is not to suggest ageing but rather due to limitations of graphics back in the day. Squarer stone bricks with dull textures would have looked really silly.I think a lesson to be learnt here is that any "WoW v2.0" as fans obviously would love, would need to be very very careful. We'd still want the cartoony depiction of Stormwind, but with much higher attention to texture detail etc. I don't think fans really want to see WoW v2.0 steered in the direction of this person's really fine and impressive work.
Very nice work indeed, thanks for sharing this masterpiece!Although, it's been changed HEAVILY from original WoW Stormwind, Added extra staircases, buildings, doors, modified the streets' overall look (removed or replaced key street objects, etc). That made me I wasn't even able to recognize where I am in some of the cuts while I'm playing a human character for 19 years now. I'd love to see these high quality remakes to be more reminiscent of their originals.
I don't really like it that much. I've seen better looking towns in modern engines, and it doesn't really give me the Stormwind vibe at all.Overall the scene seems too dull to invoke any WoW-like feelings for me. Maybe the stone textures should be a bit brighter and the roofs a bit blue-er so it matches the WoW-style better, even if it looks less real. For specifics what immediately stood out to me, the cobble-stone ground is too flat (just textured ground, the stones don't seem real), and the torches and street lamps don't have proper lighting effects, they are just disguised point lights instead of conveying a feeling of actual medival flickering fire-based lighting, which would immensely add to the atmosphere.
That looks....Unreal :)Looks like lots of work involved...many hours I'm guessing. Well done and thanks for sharing. :)
You DO realise that kind of local rendering for game-play will put a lot of "potato-PC's" - as many kids today like to call them - out of commission...?
Time to recreate whole wow :3
Maybe there would be something alike if they didn't keep a dead patient on a life support for too many years.
Very well done! Could recognize all part of SW. Thanks for sharing!

In general, I prefer realistic graphic styles, even if they don't always age well, so this is interesting to me. Yeah, some of the textures (particularly the stone textures) don't look that great, but many others do. I can agree with those who say the colors are a bit muted and it doesn't "feel" like Warcraft for that reason. It does make me think of Warcraft... the movie, which made humans more "realistic" and still looked good in its own way. (Still would've preferred a fully CGI movie with cartoon humans, of course).I think there's a .01% chance Blizz is going to overhaul their engine at this point because modern WoW actually looks pretty good, especially now that we've got Classic to see how far we've come. Any improvements should be focused on performance, specifically in heavy combat (raids). However, if they ever did, I think they'd borrow heavily from Overwatch. Bright colors, cartoony aesthetic, great performance (maybe not in an MMO shell, but Overwatch DID start out as Titan, another MMO), and looks higher quality. I don't know how compatible the two engines are, but perhaps there's some code that could be shared.
Yup, the 15 year old graphics is old and WoW needs this. This "isn't WoW" bs is coming from people unwilling to change, both themselves and their 20 year old rigs.
