great ideas here !
WoW. That's a lot of ideas, pretty cool and all but we're talking about Blizzard, so.....
I do like the idea of playing pet battles with the APP. But I dislike the idea of farming fame (like honor level) and adding items or glyphs/ scrolls to the pets. This will take to much balance/time and effort. This will make such a big grind (fame farm). At the end pet battles are not what WOW stands for... They are just an additional feature/ collectables. There is definitely something to do and some changes to think about, but not drastic ones.
yo i hav been pet battler since MoP vame out, this post is 1000% fire, if we get even 1 of these ideas in game i wuld be hype, great work fam
You forgot the biggest improvement of all: The deletion of pet levels and leveling. This is a MUST at this point in the game.
I agree with most of this, have been a diehard pet collector since vanilla and one of the first things I do when new zones become available is get all the battlepets in rare form (not just anyone, have to capture a rare as the first of the species). The only thing I am not certain of in this is the shiny marker. I agree that they are distintive for those of us who are diehard, but you cannot cage and sell wild caught battlepets... and that is something which I do not think has added as an addition to the articled changes... although i might have to reread and edit this later.Buying a pet from a vendor over and over again for a "shiny" is not content I would like to see.I would like to see more battlepet dungeons, I find those a lot of fun. Potentially adding Mythic on top of HC where not only can you not heal, but you cannot use spefic pets or families... or things like weather effects are disabled or where moved such as Flock do not apply the dmg multiplier.Overall, a great article, great imagery.
This looks terribly bad . They are trying to bring Pokemon games into wow. I hope devs never waste time creating all of this.
Love the concept especially the mobile part and endgame stuff. Do it Blizz! To all the “Go play Pokémon”-sayers: No I want to do it with my battle pets I love and have collected. What’s wrong with this? The system is already there.
some ideas are neat.I personally like the oidea of incentives for "tribe" teams and the rebalancing of the "racials". Even back in pokemon, I would always choose a type and play the game strictly with pokemon of that type. Mostly it was Ground/Rock and sometimes Grass. I also like the idea of earnable "battlefield half" - customization a lot. What Im not into at all is making the battles more in-depth with attached items and more system layers. The simplicity is the appealing part for me in this. The pick ban is alright because I dont pvp pet battle anyway, but I imagine it would take way too much time to do a pick ban phase before every match. That alone would annoy me so much that I'd stay away from pvp pet battles even...further?If nothing else, you gotta appreciate the effort and love it takes to compile a list like that and flesh it out into a dev concept.wp
That was a lovely read!
I'm all for it but let's be real, not enough people care for blizzard to put even 1% of that level of commitment. I'd be happy with quicker battles and just more content, increase pets max level, add new rarity levels
ITS GONNA COST A RAID TIER (disclaimer: /s)
Some of this is cool, some of this is awful. It's so comprehensive, all my feedback can really give/say is: Please do not give this the M+/Raiding/PvP treatment of forced engagement in order to chase rewards not worth the effort. It's simple, it's fun, and it's easy. Keep it that way.
Bringing up the music in a comparison... i mean do they know that the pet battle musics are from warcraft 2 and it is (kind of) an easter egg? Anyway yeah, i also turned it off since it baceme irritating and boring in a short time. There are many musical easter eggs. Like the Warcraft 3 intro cinematic's music where the 2 sides clash is the same when the Alliance & Horde arrives on pandaria in the 5.1 Landfall patch
definitely no. By the rate blizzard is adding pets and the effort that takes to get them, adding such complexity to those it would be a nightmare to get them all. Because pet battle collectors (as me) want to have everything. Organizing the colour variants on one pet model that would be helpful. Or even some lore page but definitely not anything as leveling for days one single pet in all those complex systems described.
That is a metric ton of feedback. I hope the devs seriously go through it. Standouts to me are Pet Equipment. Would make the system more complicated and the simplicity of the system is one of its best features imo. You can make encounters have more depth without some other system you need to tinker with outside of combat/prefight like gear. Already swap teams/pet abilities between most battles imagining layers on top of that just doesn't seem fun for me in the long run. This may be from the perspective of a more casual player but the stat up idea just places the goal, getting the pet to max efficiency, further away. Even if the journey is fun, if the road is too long it's going to suck. I like the line of thought that PvP battles should have some kind of more enticing rewards to incentivise participation though. I don't think "power" is a good choice though.Incorperating parts of the Rematch addon into the base UI. Sounds solid to me. But I actually have no idea what the base UI is like at this point I've been using it for so long. lol. The three most useful features for me are the robust search functions for pets, name, level, quality, strong vs ect. saved teams, and the leveling queue. The proposed PvE ideas all seem fun to expolre. Multiplayer, or ways for players to positively interact with those around them via pet battling, sounds like something people would find fun and exciting. Recapturing pets for rewards sounds fun. Or some system to turn in wild pets you've caught and trained up (rewards given based on difficulty of capture. More difficult to get pets = more rewards) for some kind of reward could also be cool. I sorta like the idea of varied cages as a visual. Looking at the same one all the time gets boring. But giving cages special effects is just complicating things to a degree I think isn't actually good for the experience. Pet battle mobile app sounds like a good idea. No idea if it's worth the dev cost but I think it's just a no brainer that it would be fun and a sizable portion of the community would enjoy it. Being able to play WoW, even if only a side activity, on the go. Currently PvP pet battles are fun. But also can be pain. Getting absolutely stompped by someone who has experience and a strong team when you are out there just trying to do your weekly event quest or completely some achieves is rough. No idea what can be done about it. But the system feels really unfriendly to people just trying it out casually. I don't really want pet battle "seasons". The game already has a good amount of rotating seasonal content and Pet Battles feel much better to me as a sorta evergreen thing. A thing you can get hooked on for a couple weekends, take an extended break from when new seasonal content drops, and pick back up however many months/years later with nothing major missed. But hopefully with a bunch of new pet battle content and related stuff waiting for you to enjoy! Pet Battling is a cool side activity. I think it is most enjoyable when in that role and making it copy the seasonal structure of other major game activities isn't for the best.
pls no
One of the charms of pet battle is the casualty of it. They don't feel it is mandatory. Making the system more complex is not necessarily a good thing, but changes like visuals and balances would be amazing. Also, changing the weekly PvP to defeat 30 pets in PvP battle would be a 100/10 change! XDAlthough, in my opinion, I would welcome almost every single change listed there!
Big yes to everything. For pvp if it is like now with everyone using the same OP team, I'd say no thanks.
