Ah yes, more retconning.
"If you aren’t ready, they return you to life, exactly how you see Spirit Healers work in the game. Players have something different about them: they are never quite ready for the Shadowlands, despite ending up there and that is an interesting thing specifically about some of the races of Azeroth.”I find this line quite interesting, specifically to explain the Wisps. It could be that kaldorei souls follow this pattern of never being quite ready to depart, so they stay in the world of the living. But, if they don't have a body where to return, that's when they become wisps and go to inhabit the forests and help the living Kaldorei until they feel ready to depart to the Shadowlands.
All in all neat, but I wonder what the point of Chronicles is aside from having a semi-official account of the general history of WoW. It was described as a lore bible so to speak, but then they decided it had the ol' "unreliable narrator" because it was apparently described by the Titans. It just makes it really easy to ignore lore when at any given moment they can go, "Changed my mind, that's something else now." They could've swung it so those spirit healers were once val'kyr but charged by the Kyrians with their new task or something, and have since changed to reflect that. Then it wouldn't be a break in the lore so much as a bend.Oh well.
Retconning huh? Well, this is an afterlife...you can't chronicle it without being "dead" in the dead zone full of death and spirits. But hey, they managed to work in Titan stuff with Pandaren and Mogu and that worked out really well.
Ok, but if you're gonna update Spirit Healer models one day, keep them looking the same because they're iconic. It would be a shame for them to have all that flashy gold armor instead of the simple white cloth that shrouds their bodies. It gives them an air of enigma that would be lost with the bulky over-thep-top armor. On another note, I'd really love for them to be an Allied Race at some point. Imagine a Demon Hunter-like glide racial with those wings. Wing customizations, too.
Incoming Pyromancer video any second now.
Very interesting. That's just the nature of writing. Things are left unfinished or change based on different perspectives. It's one reason why text books are updated so often. In real life we learn new information that changes how we perceive and/or explain things. This makes sense. Chronicle is from the Titan perspective, who are not omnipotent. They're just old and know a lot of &*!@. But my grandparents are old, and half the stuff they told me turned out to be crazy superstitions. Still love'em though. <3
"Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings" - Karolyn in It's a Wonderful LifeGreat reference!
I wonder how many retcons Blizzard uses to justify SL. If you remove all information what describes things what were described before you will see: SL is connected with lore of WoW very, very weakly. That`s absolutely terrible.
Can't fathom how anyone at Blizzard thought we would enjoy seeing Uther mindwiped
Trying to canonize game mechanics that are in the game because it's a game is kind of silly. I hope this isn't meant to be taken literally. Also lol, anima is WoW's toilet paper. Something overlooked and taken for granted until it suddenly becomes scarce. Wew.
Bwonsamdi >>>>...>>>> Spirit HealersHis quotes are hilarious, specially when you die in Zandalar and meet him (taken from gamepedia):
Hilarious that some people are acting as if this is a major, lore-breaking retcon. Get a grip xD
