Mirror Images is the perfect example for the discussion IMO. Maybe it doesn’t have to have value in burn phases, but it can be tuned for high mobility / add heavy scenarios and be a defensive option in solo play. Rather than just macroing it to Combustion / IV / AP, it can offer some flavour and decision making options to mages. In that respect, I agree that there are better design options available than just removing something from the GCD. In other cases, the BF change is a step in the right direction. Rotational / Situational DPS cooldowns should provide a damage burst - Remorseless Winter should cast Howling Blast. Havoc should apply Immolate to the last two targets you've struck.Additionally, Primary DPS cooldowns should cap player resources, and/or invoke their primary damage mechanic, in addition to their normal effects.Combustion should either instant cast Pyro, or give hot streak (or both), when triggered. Have Recklessness grant 100 rage, Avenging Wrath grant 5 HP, PoF refresh runes, Berserk should put all bleeds on the target, etc. It'll help those cooldowns feel immediately impactful, and I’d prefer that over just macroing everything together.Where the GCD really becomes a problem is with Hunters Mark, rotational DPS totems, etc. They need to be removed from GCD, or removed entirely; they’re cumbersome in raids, and terrible for solo play & mythic+. They just get simmed down to “only use this ability if your target lives longer than X seconds” and inflates action bars without value. They need to bend here, or some classes are just going to be awful to play.
How about we just lower the actual number of damage and healing buffs and make when u use one others go on 5sec CD,,,then just buff overall damage/healing of abilities....splitting buffs up wont seem so bad then...noone needs to hit 5 damage buffs at once unless u just wanna see big numbers for the thrill..size really dosent matter that much
DK = NEW! Superstrain : Your Frost Fever, Blood Plague, and Virulent Plague also apply the other two diseases.sould be basline for unholy =O not an anima traid

Reading this thread, I'm afraid that those in favour of keeping the GCD seem to be producing significantly better arguments. Sorry macro writers!
Just give the Buffs a Small Dmg Part and people stop cryin.
They should just take all throughput defensive/healing/dps cooldowns off the GCD but give the tooltip some indication that it's a major cooldown and all major cooldowns are decreased in effectiveness when stacked. So if you lump them all together in 1 macro, fine, but there is a diminshed return.
If they all make the cooldowns in GCD having immediate damage/heal effects on targets with no snapshot effect, most offensive skills can stay in GCD, no problem. But if I'm just pressing a power up/mitigation, and then wait for 1.30 sec to press my next button, it will feel clunky and make the player desperate to counter any sudden damage/cc effect.I'm sure there are a lot of people who yells the f word when they miss something by 0.06 second when they have 60 ms lag. (this is an example to make you feel the concept, wasn't meant to be a realistic example)Also, from pure dps point of view, if I want to smash something hard, I'll want to activate bunch of my cds at the same time and blow the guy to the kingdom come.for example, you don't wanna do Recklessness => 1.3 secs => siegebreaker => 1.3 secs => your rotation to keep up the enrage => 1.3 secs => put in a dragon roar in your siegebreaker and enrage window if you didn't miss your window by then, by the unlucky rage fill-up or lack of procs. Stuff like these are annoying, especially at the start of the expansion.
