Honestly, I find it quite insulting when this gets praised as if it's better than what the many talented animators over at blizzard can pull off, or any other 3D animator for that matter. He's obviously quite knowledgeable when it comes to 3D programs, you can easily see that. But this is where alot of these fan 3D creations fall flat - custom animations/modeling.This is just another case of "master puppeteer". He's really good at using the assets given by the game (models, maps, animations, etc) but the moment something a bit more complex comes up, like for instance: facial animations - the amateur immediately shines through. All of the characters have these dead pan expressionless faces when they speak; where's the fear in Brann's face when he's talking about Yogg? Ronin looks like he's having a stroke when he's doing his angry/frustrated speech and Thrall looks more confused when he says he's dissapointed in garrosh, rather than looking dissaproving/angry. And Garrosh's mouth movement is clumsely slapped on from the talk emote to match the words he's saying and it looks really jarring.Doing facial animations with the ingame WoW models can be a bit tricky, sure. But it's not super hard either, if you put in a little of extra effort you can get some decent results. Varian's case I can understand, because that's a HOTS models, they're not made with facial expressions in mind. And you need to have some understanding of modeling to make it look good.So yeah, I'll admit I'm a bit annoyed when apparently his response is "don't care". It would've been alot more respectable if he just admitted he couldn't pull it off or couldn't find a proper model for it - there's no shame in that at all. He could with just a little bit more effort, export a human female, swap some textures around and slap garrosh's face on a mag'har orc model - I've seen it done really well before many times. Why couldn't he?To me, that kind of response seems more like he's more interested in views and getting smoke blown up his ass with praise rather than passion for the craft. What's even the point of remaking these cinematics scene by scene when you're not even going to use the advantage that the new HD models have over the old ones? And no, I don't have any problems with IKedit and he can do whatever he wants and people can give praise all they want, that's all fine. But critique is also important and can't always be dismissed as "hate" or "jealousy" or whatever people wanna call it.We're all cursed with this thing called an "ego" and when we get overinflated ego's we tend to never improve in our craft and just make the same thing over and over again. Because hey, why should you, right? People will love it regardless!Sorry for the essay, but when it comes to animation, I'm very passionate about it.
I have to say, this was done quite well. But still... it boils my blood to see Garrosh again. Always his bloodthirsty, self-righteous self even before he became a prominent figure. Curse the Hellscream bloodline. It should have ended when Grom sacrificed himself to free his people.
old 1 was better
Ok, so first: Varian`s model from Legion would fit much better. Second: Garrosh didn`t wear Mannoroth`s tusks `til Cataclysm. Third: during WotLK Jaina also wears different clothes
Meh, the cinematics is good, but I will most likely never rewatch them because of that poor model choices. The lore must be maintained.
Such a shame that he took the time to do this, and people who couldn't even figure out where to begin think they have the right to critique his work. Not only that, but then they are offended when his response isn't what they wanted to hear. Entitled much?
I've never really liked IKEdit's animations. The guy has put in a lot of work, sure, but he always goes overboard with the lighting and particle effects and they're honestly not that well edited or animated.
