Remember when characters in this game had personality? We are finally seeing how Forsaken 'tirelessly protect the living' as was foreshadowed in their hastily removed updated description from a while back. As if anyone expected to had any nuance to them after all that has happened.God, I hate how attached I am to this game. I wish I could just forget it existed.
My favorite part was Calia removing the Forsaken from Gilneas and letting Greymane know Worgen are getting their home back. <32nd favorite was them asking Tyrande if she would accept the undead kaldorei into their homes. This obviously let the undead quel'dorei return to their peoples too, and thus Dark Rangers for everybody. Also there has never been a Dark Ranger Nightborne. Sorry. >.>"But dark ranger void elf" - They're just giving void elves quel'dorei skin, hair, lack of tentacles and now dark ranger options. It's an rp addition.
The Genn Greymane I know would have accepted that letter with skepticism at best, not "ok, I'm surprised but thank you for giving our country back". Whether Calia could make that promise or not isn't as important to me as Genn's out of character reaction. The Genn I remember has always been a distrustful person, especially when came to the Horde and the Forsaken in particular, I thought he'd say something along the lines of "Harumph! I'll believe it when I see it a perhaps not even then!" They're defanging the wolf. Before I suspected Anduin would make Calia queen, now I think he's going to dissolve the monarchy for a human council since Blizzard is like Oprah these days. "You get a council, and you get a council, everybody gets a council!" The faction and racial leaders served an important purpose, they gave you and new players a feel for what the factions and races were about and what made them different while still part of the faction prompting us to dig deeper. But if everybody has a council then they all start feeling the same and we don't see where to start going down the rabbit hole on these races, the only differences would be mechanical abilities and cosmetic differences. I'm convinced that these current writers either don't know these characters or just do not care.I should be excited for the next expansion, I love dragons, but I'm as skeptical as the REAL Genn Greymane that the current writing team can pull it off or care about what happened before. The gameplay aspects look promising for now but as far as lore is concerned, I know most players only care about what they have to do and what they get for doing it but between the horrible treatment of Arthas and the apparent steps to take WAR out of Warcraft I'm expecting another disaster.
They just couldn't resist another "stick one to the allaince" moment by having them be errand boys for the other side. "Here's your city back, no biggie.""Here's TWO racial skins.""Uh...I guess we give the alliance an RP bone for Gilneas...and one skin. Sucks about your genocided race though. Lulz, we're still celebrating the lich queen by selling her merch and comissioning pieces to profit off a blood thirsty war criminal who burned innocent men, women, and children alive!"Imagine if any company sold Hitler merch (or anyone else in history who committed such atrocities) and had someone on their team who did self inserts into the game because they had an unhealthy fixation romantic interest in a genocidial monster.
I was doing the collect a blight sample escort when the servers were still unstable. Ended up dying out in the blight when the servers came back up. My voidwalker now seems to have a permanent green aura/sheen on him lol.
