My grips with Retribution is that Blizzard is balacing around us having that buff,so unless that Garbage Passive dissapears blizzard will never give retribution paladin time to shine. If they just balanced the class around not having the talent then i had no problems if we had the talent or we didn't. But as it stands they just actively put that into numbers so unless people die when you are in wings form Akka ask your shamans to suicides when the pallys go wings cause they can ankh, then you will not hit the top spot ever with same skill level raiders of another class. I remember a moment in the guldan mythic fight if i recall correctly where one of the few fights melle were brought in masses and there were some rets in the first kill video. And they asked their shamans to die twice in a row and reincarnate so they rets had 20% dmg increase for almost a minute. That's how we are suppose to play with that passive existing.Hope it gets replaced with a permanent buff or we get bigger numbers by default.
For everyone trying to defend "Retribution" as a baseline passive trait:What if, and this is pretty likely, this is part of our class "balance", that it is expected to have, resulting in us "underperforming" cause someone isn't dying? In ANY form of group content, if someone is dying, it shouldn't be "propping up someone else's damage output", it should be a flat-out loss, and depending on the size of the group, it could be moderately problematic to massively devastating. No matter how much lore and theme you put behind it, it doesn't change it to being a BAD class passive trait. It is also 100% useless for anything outside of group content. Aside from resurrection abilities (which the general ones cannot even be used in combat), any other class gets SOME benefit from their full kit, in all content. This is of no benefit when alone. This is of no benefit when in a competent group setting.Saying it's "a good thematic trait" is all fine, but when it effectively contributes nothing to the playstyle, nothing to the class, without an outside, player-controlled, force failing to do their very role, that is bad design.Stop looking at it from a thematic perspective, and look at it from a mechanical design one: Nobody should get a BENEFIT from a teammate dying.
Wouldnt Execution Sentence:be better than Righteous Verdict when on 1v1?
