Some of the final traits are great, but this leans even further into how big swapping covenants is. Grinding out 55-57 renown to fully unlock your combat bonuses and having to rebuild all the Covenant features is quite the grind.Hopefully 9.1.5 adds a quest to jump to 40 renown. Then we can power through the original campaign for another quick 9.*edit - I did not realize how much they sped up renown in 9.1 when making this post. I still stand by having to rebuild all the features is a grind though. Souls bottleneck you even if you have a ton of anima.
Pretty big news for quite a few specs; Fatal Flaw/Kevin and Mikanikos' crazy capstone trait are gamechangers for so many of them.
mikanos gang RISE !
Pretty sure this is not possible, as the earlier renown levels are locked specifically by campaign quests.
Having recently leveled my warrior through threads, I can chime in pretty decisively. Threads will give you 3 Renown per zone when you turn in the quest that returns you to Oribos if completed at 60. Its a great head start.Regardless of your story progress, if you are behind more than the current week, you will get bonus renown, and continue to earn renown up to the current weekly cap, less any outstanding story missions you have yet to complete, this is true even with Korthia and the 9.1 Story.
I just switched my warrior from venthyr to kyrian last week for pvp and I got to renown 54 in 1.5 days. The campaign gives you like 20 renown alone now, got 3 from 1 world boss kill and so on. Renown catch up is pretty quick now.
Renown takes almost zero time to grind up. It can be done with a day of play. You get to about 35 just from finishing the campaign, and you get 1 per random bg / dungeon / torghast / raid boss / calling / maw assault. Leisurely, it can be done over 2-3 days comfortably, or grinded in a day.I would still prefer them to pull the ripcord and give us them as actual talents, since, you know, we haven't had a new talent row in eons, but alas...The one thing that is ok with this expansion, alt wise anyway, is that renown, currently, is fast.Everything else? dog&*!@. Gearing, torghast, legendary RNG, if you care about any covenant system, good luck, if you swap it'll take you several months to get back to where you were, even with the anima buff...
At this point of the story, the 4 covenants have agreed to work together. It's time for Blizzard to write into the story that the covenants begin to recognize the renown of each other's people. That works in real life when different organizations decide to work together. It's not too far-fetched or unreasonable for the in-game universe.
i agree that renew catch up is pretty fast but since i arleady did the 4 campaigns i just dont wan´t to do it again that the reazon im not switching or leveling more alts, just too lazy.
yeah quite the grind, took me the whole day to get to cap from 1. :(
I know people here really dislike the renown "grind", but as someone who just leveled his alt to 60 and got 52 renown in a couple of days without focusing on it, I disagree. Renown is rewarded after afaik a random bg win, after a random battleground, after fast main story line quests (many give 2 of them). Combine the flying in SL and the wormhole generator: shadowlands at engineering lvl 1, and I can genuinely say I just blasted through the renown levels while trying to gear my character a bit.
