Nice, not everything deserves to be epic anyhow it takes away from gaining better gear in overall.
so when is the raid going to open on normal and mythic+ in the beta ?
Power-wise, this means nothing, as stat budgets have only been determined by itemLevel since at least Cata. The automatic cutoff is also not something new, as we've seen with WQ rewards and similar scaling items, above a certain iLvl they turn epic.I'd say that if this is intended, it's merely to keep Crystals for Enchanting a bit more rare (no pun intended) at the beginning of Dragonflight.
tbh epic quality doesn't mean anything since cataclysm.I think blue should reflect LFR, MM0 but also NM raid (everything with ilevel close to NM raid or less) . That permit to see easily the gear invest of a player, and also make quality... a quality and not just a color for no reason
This seems good. I just want to throw out there the idea that M+ giving scaling gear rewards has created a problem since Legion of ilvl inflation, with wider gaps from Normal to Heroic and Heroic to Mythic raid gear based on the incremental scaling of M+gear to balance and feel rewarding. This also means that players who raid but do not have a significant amount of time to apply to running M+ will have a harder time filling out their gear compared to those running multiple keys every week. I think it would be amazing if there was a M+ talent build similar to the Box of Many Things from Torghast, and M+ rewarded a resource to gradually fill that out, so you unlocked perks that made higher level keys attemptable with the same level gear. This would mean that M+ content rewarded M+ content, and the playing field would be leveled significantly for raiders across the majority of guilds because raid and M+ gear rewards would remain comparable but at set ilvls rather than incremental scaling on m+ gear and no such scaling on raid gear. I just personally feel like this would be a far more rewarding and enjoyable rewards system than the current Tier Farming setup of grinding the same gear again and again at higher ilvls.
The biggest impact of the item color happens only if you go to disenchant the stuff, because only the purple quality items grant the purple crystals required for the higher quality enchantments. For everything else just the gear score value is relevant,
Does this mean m0 won't be upgradable? Or will it turn epic on becoming rank 2/12 etc
Interesting, seems pointless as I figured we'd just got to a stage where purple = raid or mythic dungeon, but I don't dislike this change
If everything is epic, nothing is epic. I don't really care about it either way, but it's a nice visual indicator to see that something is worse or better than another. Currently there's no easy way to differentiate between different strengths of a single item.
They are trying to sperate casuals from elites. Showing who can do more chores in the game than any other family man normally can't.
This doesn't mean anything when item quality no longer determines an item budget. On retail, an epic, a blue, and a green with the same item level have the exact same stats. Don't even know why item quality exists now when it only means something in Classic.
