And so Dragonflight begins with its first stumble, a prepatch event as exciting as a fart in the wind. I feel like it got put in the Shadowlands bucket of "we don't care about this anymore, let's just push thru it". Hopefully this is not a portent of things to come - and hopefully they just make the heirloom thing available some other place later.
I first started working on this like Wednesday/Thursday last week (felt terrible end of day the week prior). I finished all the mogs, uldaman mogs, heirloom, FoS, 3/3 pets and leveled up 5 characters to 60 (now have 19). You just have to play like a rat when doing this. You don't get something on that character, hop on to the next and then hope that shard didn't have the boss killed yet. The main thing is just throwing yourself at it enough to get it done and personally I felt like I didn't do enough since I still have 3 race for old race/allied race heritage mogs left (HMT, tauren, goblin) and I wished I leveled those to 50 (maybe even 60) with this event. If you have nothing to do today then just hammer at the event and plead others to trade their excess dimmed.
As someone who dragged close to 10 characters through this event, I can say I rarely saw Air events spawn. Earth and Fire were the most common (Wyrmrest).I did get the trinket though, but sucks for people who couldn't get Air for one reason or another.
Even during the first week of the event, I was having trouble with the wind. Fire, Earth and Water dropped on the first try, but it wasn't until the 5th try that I dropped the wind shard.
They should have put them on the vendor for like 200 pieces each in case of bad RNG.
Was this not already apparent? It has been obvious since Day 1 that Air Invasions were rarer. And I do believe the pieces should have been buyable as well.I got the heirloom in the first two or three days on two characters and even I think they should have been buyable or very common drops. It is surprising just how rare these are when I get them every other boss kill.
It would have been nice if they had simply had 4 storm locations, and ensure it's a different element in each one so you don't have to wait for the right one to spawn if you're only going for the trinket.
big lesson in limited time achievements/items here friends ... DO NOT WAIT FARM THEM IMMEDIATELY
Anyone who thinks this is a player issue might need to reevaluate how much they play this game. This is clearly another scuffed RNG event from Blizzard. This has actually been the case for over a week with the poor air element spawn rate.
should just put all 4 up all the time on a rotation. bit late now.
They really were rarer.I'm just glad i got my trink even though i don't need it, but for collection sake.
No Storm invasion on my server *Illidan yesterday afternoon or night.
I'm so glad I got mine early reading this. Yikes. I imagine that the storm invasion is spawning though, regularly. The problem is that it's spawning in the Tiristfal Glades spawn point and Blizzard probably just made the spawn point invisible to players, instead of disabling it entirely. But, I did see once all 3 valid spawn points were Earth. Which, with a 2 week event, and 4 options for each spawn point, is just absurd.Well there's one thing that you can always count on - Blizzard's RNG coding sucks. Anybody remember how they had to put Legion world bosses on a rotation because some bosses never spawned, and some were repeated over and over? Or have you ever noticed how when you open a bunch of armor or weapon tokens you get a lot of duplicates, even with a bunch of options for what that token can create? Or how about when a raid mechanic picks the same person over and over again, despite having a dozen or more valid targets?Yea...They should have just realized that this WAS going to happen and instead put the storms on some rotation, at least at one spot. I like the idea of the randomness so that people don't miss out because of their schedule, but having one zone, like un'goro be a safety net would have been good. They could have just had Un'goro rotate through all 4 elements every 12 hours. That way, if the RNG on the other 2 spots was bad (as expected) you could just look up a post to determine when you needed to at Un'goro for your missing element. But it's too late now, and this pre-patch will be remembered for how RNG screwed players out of an achievement and trinket, despite some players' best efforts.
