Catalyst week one now! It's bull#$%^ that M+ players get their tier set SIX BLOODY WEEKS after raiders!
At least week 3, so at time week 6 starts it would have 4 charges
What type of currency is required for the catalyst and how bad is the grind?
So since this is clearly treated by blizzard as if it would be a catch up system only, not the means to obtain it, I really hope that they do have a system in place for m+ that allows ppl to grind it through that. I feel like BfA's way of obtaining azerite gear should be perfect for that:
I've been saying this since BFA with azeroth's champion grind. If you want your characters to be the strongest they can be, you should have to do all things in the game. That includes raiders doing M+, vice versa and even dabbling into pvp as a pve player, plus the reverse. Now granted even with a 6 week delay, there still stands a likelihood of even raiders not having 4 set from generally their preferred difficulty (like heroic raider doing normal, mythic player doing heroic as well). No doubt that people will frown on others for not having 4 set if they neglect to have done requisite LFR bosses during that time, though.
Please just remove the catalyst system you are ruining the game............
Why people see it as either week 1 for tier set or 6 weeks +? What about a middle ground? Do keep in mind 6 weeks means you only get to get your first piece at 6 week, not even a 2 set as a mythic+er. Now, I don't know how many of you actually played S3, but as someone who only had the time / wanted to play m+, you just wouldn't be able to get into groups if you're not a mythic raider cause they got their sets a LOT earlier while m+s either had to be extremely lucky with vault or have nothing at all, which puts you at a huge disadvantage for way too long to play the content you actually want to play. Why people here are even advocating to force people to raid? Why? Why does it bother you so much that people prefer one mode of the game but not the other? Do you really want people who have no time to commit for raids to just quit the game? What is wrong with you? This is how you lose players, by forcing them to play the modes they dont want / have time for.I think unlocking catalyst at week 4th for the first piece would be fair enough, if we're looking at S3 statistics. It doesn't trivialize earning the set at the raid and make it pointless, at the same time, it doesn't make you wait half a season as a m+er to earn your first tier piece.Optimally? Raid tier pieces would be... only raid tier pieces, inactive outside raids and this would solve this entire drama. People who want to play only M+ shouldn't feel discouraged to play M+ cause their only way to get the best gear for M+ is to commit to raids. Let people enjoy the modes they WANT to play.
Personally I'm 100% on board with Blizzard's decision to treat catalyst as a catch up system. It shouldn't be the primary way of gearing yourself and raid should be the only place to get (guaranteed) tier drops at the start of the season. There is nothing wrong with incentivizing raiding like that, raid should always have the strongest and most interesting loot. As for m+ only players it's one of the 2 things. They are only doing easy 15-20 keys, which is the cap for rewards, in which case they absolutely don't need any raid gear. If you think pug leaders won't invite you without a tier to a weekly 15 in first few weeks of the patch just become pug leader yourself, game can't be balanced around pugs like that. The other group are people who are actually pushing cutting edge keys just for the sake of doing it and having to raid should really be nothing new for them. Those highest keys are not balanced and they have to be min maxed in a lot of ways. Besides having to raid you need to bring specific classes as well, you need tertiaries and specific stats etc.
