I just got my 56th mount killing the city bosses, but I gotta say my Tiger is still the best.
Most epic loot?I would have to say........When i was questing on my pala i found a Dark Whelpling from the first mob I killed for that quest, completely oblivious that the noobs even drops anything of value ^.^ I was JUST about to use it when I looked on Who would have guessed? wow head to see how much the estimated price was :3....ye it was worth 1k...sold it in AH 2 days later for 800G ^.^The most epic fail.....(From Blizzard) Taking Amani War Bear out of drops :( im new wow player and always wanted that mount >_> DAMN YOU!Its not epic...but its my best drop (Apart from Nightblade what sold for a load of poop :P):3
Epic loot? Maybe not on the scale of colors, but practically once in a lifetime? Heck yeah.As my Night Elf Druidess, I had recently achieved 70 about a month before WotLK had come out. I had been wanting to try my hand at Kara for a long time (and this being my first 70, and now going to be my first 80) I kept looking at the guild calendar with longing, wanting to get in one of those raids. During that time, I kept saying, “I really like bats in-game. I wish there was a non-combat pet like that…”My wish came true, as the Scourge invasion swung around with zombies filling the countryside of Westfall, and eventually swarming Ironforge and Stormwind to the point of bursting, I learned of a Prince Tenris Mirkblood currently residing in Karazhan. Checking his loot table, I flipped. There was an elusive catch, the Vampiric Batling. Jumping for joy I spazzed out to my guild, “I HAVE TO RUN KARA. I WANT THE BAT PET.” Now, there was just one problem. My guild ran raids at times I was never on, unfortunate for me. There was one savior, our guild we’re associated with on my server of Greymane, and they ran raids at a time quite easy for me to run at. Jumping the gun, I talked to our guild leader asking to see if I could ever get slotted in their raids and she said she’d see what she could do.The next day I got a whisper from a member of both guilds, kind of like an ambassador she was able to slot me in easy. Unfortunately, I screwed up. I waited at the Kara door until they were ready (which took them a while anyway!) and was stupid enough to help someone get into Kara, not knowing “do not go in if the bosses have already been killed!” Not like I knew the bosses had been killed already I went in, and got saved to that Kara. Upset at finding I couldn’t run it, I prayed for him to remain another week and apologized to the guild. The next week came, and I vowed this would not happen again! Running it for the first time, I wouldn’t have cared if I didn’t get any other loot except him (I did get some shoulders though) I just wanted the battling I had pre-decided to name, Gary. The first two times we tried Prince Tenris, we were beaten royally (Pun not intended) and decided to finish up the rest before coming back for him. I whimpered as I feared the fact I would not obtain him crossed my mind. Luckily enough though, we traversed Karazhan with ease beating every boss except Nightbane as we had no means to summon him this time around. Finally, the time came when it would be all or nothing for Prince Tenris Mirkblood. Through people finally listening through Ventrillo, and paying attention to the red orbs, we beat him down and me gaining my Batling.Till this day, if you were to find Florelline on Greymane, you would most likely see her with Gary out, following her like the little blood sucker he is.
I ran my friend's Paladin through UBRS to get some gear before our guild started MC raids. It was the typical god-awful UBRS pug (I'm sure you vets remember those), and I just wanted to get the hell out of there with the Lightforge chest in tow. After about 2 hours of torture, we got to Drakkisath. After a few wipes, we finally managed to get him down. I was hearthing out right after the kill, not expecting my loot to drop. Not only did the LF chest drop, but so did the Blackblade of Shahram! 1% droprate, I never thought I'd see that thing. It wasn't the best item, but the rarity made it something worth rolling on. I won the LF chest by default, but I won the roll for the sword by just one point. My friend was pumped to get his first epic item. =D
Back in the late Molten Core/early Blackwing Lair days of classic WoW, I was merrily leveling my first horde character, a priest, on the southern coast of Stranglethorn Vale for the quest Up to Snuff. Earlier, I had killed a dwarf priest and human paladin in the area a few times that were a level or two above me (separately). They had apparently decided to team up and try to gank me.I immediately abandoned the mob I was fighting when I spotted them running toward me, and started swimming south toward the Bloodsail pirate ships, knowing that I had an advantage in the water due to my Undead breath meter (breath timers were much shorter then). They recklessly chased me all the way past the pirate ships, out to the edge of the fatigue water, at the bottom of the ocean floor. At this point, they finally noticed their breath meters were running out, but it was too late. I stopped running and turned toward them, feared the paladin, and repeatedly mind controlled the priest, swimming him deeper and further out into fatigue water until they both drowned. When I returned to the coast after my amazing adventures, the first pirate I killed dropped the last Snuff I need for my quest, as well as the ultra-rare First Mate Hat. I wear it proudly to this day.
I got ruby slippers. They weren't the most epic of epics ever, but they always went with my holiday dresses. And that's priceless.
I was in the Elemental Plateau with a warrior friend of mine. We had just gotten there and were starting to round up a few when a horde warlock so we naturally kill him and go back to our business. Well he rezes and another another two warlocks come and we barely beat them. So we go back to farming yet again when another two come down and the others rez obviously we get annihilated. Well me and my friend weren't going to take that sitting down so we rez he pops recklessness and pop bubble and spam heal him. They all die and we fly out of there as fast as we can. I think I got like 8 motes that day best motes ever.
My best epic - is a Swift Flight Form =)Wiped for a lot during doing quests, specially on last quest :) But the reward - best 'mount' ever =)
i have to agree with those folks reliving their first ever epic drop. what a great feeling! i remember fondly questing in the burning steppes, killing those annoying ogres who like to punt you off the hillside, after several deaths and long corpse runs, my persistence paid off when the Wall of the Dead dropped for me.
Now this may not have dropped for me, but it ranks as the coolest epic drop that I've encountered.Hopping into the wayback machine of pre-BC WoW, I had a pretty good warrior friend that was getting close to 60. I was already at 60 on one of my old legacy hunters and he wanted to go into BRD.I'm sure some experienced players already know where this is going, but don't get ahead! The run wasn't entirely smooth, but we managed. The other people in the group were PUGs and the DPSers in particular were causing issues. After completing Jail Break! and Arena, my friend and I were getting tired of the group. I'm not proud to say, but with a little.. group inflicted sabotage, it fell apart and only my friend and I remained. We called in a healer friend of ours and decided to 3man as far as we could go. Just before we got to the Bar, a special General dropped a very awesome trinket for the time.We kept going and nothing of particular truly happened, save for hitting a brick wall at the Lyceum. Our healer friend had a mage friend they could bring in. After a bit of waiting, we pushed on and barely managed lighting both braziers. As we neared Emperor Thaurissan, he taunted and shouted after every group killed until there was no more. Now the fight wasn't dramatic or crazy, it was pretty simple. However, when my warrior friend looted the body... Ironfoe had dropped. The group went into a frenzy of joy as we all passed to let him win. Not only did he manage the trinket, but he also gained the mace. So for a 57 tank at the time, he was pretty excited and we constantly grouped afterwards, but never truly experiencing another event like that. It was definitely fun to take a screenshot of that with everyone around the throne, kneeling to the new Emperor of Blackrock Depths.
for sure winning a roll on a Precisely Calibrated Boomstick random drop in ST. I had never owned anything epic before
