My main is a priest, and I've been playing for long enough that there's no question here - the staff Benediction from the level 60 quest "The Balance of Light and Shadow" is still my favorite. This is multiplied by the fact that I'm really into the Warcraft lore, so the peasants yelling about how Arthas had gone mad was an awesome touch. After months of unlucky experiences in Molten Core, I was finally able to acquire the Eye of Divinity, and had already convinced several guildmates into helping me farm up an Eye of Shadow from the demons in southern Winterspring. I tracked down the NPC in that one corner of Eastern Plaguelands, and nervously accepted the quest. I didn't want to fail, because I knew the NPC would despawn and I'd have to wait several hours before trying again. When all was said and done, the ground was littered with Scourge corpses, and the peasants had been saved. I received my gorgeous shining yellow staff, and used it for quite some time, until I replaced it just before TBC came out.I still pull it out of the bank now and again to show it off. Sure, it's not a legendary like Thunderfury or Sulfuras, but it's still my favorite piece of gear.
T4 way back in the day. Took forever for my token to finally drop!
Another of my most epic items must be when I finally got my icy spear (don't remember the name) from Murmur in Shadow labyrinth... I think I was exalted four times over with the Lower City faction.
My "epic" loot drop/moment/whatever would have to be the first time I did Karazhan with my guild. I started playing WoW late, and my mage was only 58 when Burning Crusade released, so I never did old-world raids. After reaching 70 and getting into the raid scene with my friends, the Harbinger Bands dropped one night and I won the roll. This being the first "omg purplz" I had ever received, it was more than a little exciting (we were all there at one point). I doubt I'll ever forget that, as it was my first taste of the "top gear" content in WoW, though the experience with my friends will always remain more important than loot. And that's my epic moment.
A great, epic drop for me was a gnome effigy I ripped off of an Orc npc in Hellfire :D
the Halloween event.... so tedious only being able to do it once a day. Only thing i had wanted was that helm, the horse mount didnt even matter at one point. So there i was ... last day of the event.... 4 tries done all rings .... them rings.... for the love of all that is holy someone get rid of them rings... anyway... last day..last attempt... and the helm drops and i get. That was an epic moment. =)
