Blizzard has announced extended server maintenance for the launch of Shadowlands Patch 9.2.5 tomorrow, with realms planned to be down from 7:00am PDT to 3:00pm PDT (10:00am to 6:00pm Eastern). Meanwhile, Classic and Burning Crusade realms will also be down for about an hour, with Diablo II: Resurrected servers down for two.
While 9.2.5 is not a large patch in terms of new content or activities, it may be one of the most impactful patches of Warcraft history, finally adding cross-faction gameplay to dungeons, raids, and PvP. This comes with a slew of technical changes which are likely the main cause of the extended maintenance, though the Patch also features new Heritage questlines, Renown changes, additional lore, and will enable cross-realm Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones ahead of closing the Alliance Hall of Fame.
Although intended to last until 3:00pm, realm maintenance often varies, sometimes ending significantly earlier than planned, and other times extended due to unforeseen complications. In the meantime, feel free to review the Official 9.2.5 Patch Notes, or our content overviews to learn more about the new additions to WoW coming with the next weekly reset.

I wonder if Dragonflight pre order comes with 9.2.5 release, I hope so only because I am starting a new character and can’t be bothered to level it and preorders usually come with a boost lol
Doubtful- preorders fulfill a marketing and sales need. So following the release of a patch makes little to no sense. Especially when the preorder is likely to temporarily boost activity on its own. Would be a waste, in that regard, to team it up with a patch release (which also temporarily brings players back).
Just buy the character boost and save the preorder for your next alt. :P
Also they are probably not going to do preorders until they can set a concrete date. Blizzard ate a ton of backlash for delaying Shadowlands launch so they most likely want to wait until closer to a potential launch so they don't have to move the date again.

Remember when the maintenance window was 8 hours every Tuesday? And sometimes it went longer. And other times it went into Wednesday. Pepperidge Farm remembers.
This all changed back in WoD (these long maintenances were a thing until MoP, as I began mid-to-end of Cata and remember the long tuesdays ended in WoD, as a 'rule'), along with the Toy Box and other
GOOD
stuff that were new in the game and added in that expansion, but people
prefer
to only remind of the 'bad' of it, mainly the 'lack of content' (I'd agree on that but it still had some, despite the 'removal of Farahlon', for example).
WoD had a somewhat good PvP system, that they're returning to in Dragonflight, in a way, they had the first thing similar to 'player housing' (Garrison), and tweaked it in Legion, BfA and SL, the Toy Box releasing many Bank, Vault and Inventory slots from many characters out there, still great dungeons, raids, Ashran was a mess but...
People did made loads of gold from Garrisons, the entire Legendary ring questline was removed too, but who made it through, still have a way to get one of the BiS rings for Timewalking AND Mage Tower, the
Elite, non-legendary versions
with cool procs, that those characters can buy off of a mage at Zangarra, in the Kirin Tor's hideout.
I'd recommend you all to re-read the WoD patch notes, because I've read some here still saying Cata was the 'last major server update'. WoD was, and to this day I remember the part about 'making Tuesdays/Wednesdays' maintenance more of a 'Reset' instead, WAY faster, they made some changes for good in their servers back then, and I remember the first WoD week was still a total mess, the lag, they still had to make more maintenances during the first AND second week, on weekdays and weekends, but it was totally worth it, years later we're all seeing the fruits of that change, only on major patches we get the occasional long maintenances now, mostly. People forget things I see (I do, and lot for instance, but stuff like this, nope).
This is a PATCH update, yes, but a big one, seemingly like 9.1.5 was, they could really be in a 9.* one themselves (I recall back in legion some .5 patches were even said to be bigger than entire WoD itself, for the 'content' they brought).
All those people that didn't, I'd recommend saving TV series to watch during this, if they're at home or/and have the 'time', while waiting. I mean, Stranger Things Season 4 volume 1 is roughly 9h, all 7 episodes. Or Moonknight, or any others. Just a tip to 'pass the time faster'.

WoD had a somewhat good PvP system, that they're returning to in Dragonflight
The system in WoD was good, but the content and mass cheating among the player base sucked. Ashran wasn’t fun in my opinion. Honorbuddy had proliferated to the masses - had entire random bgs filled with bots - for example I’ve had bots pathing between towers in eye of the storm as I was the only human player between both sides. The gladiator arena packages that played your toon and easily got you duelist or glad with only needing to move your character were getting fairly common. Kick bots and rotation bots were almost becoming standard among the top players. It was just a terrible experience that the system itself couldn’t carry.
Couldn’t believe it took blizzard nearly three years to finally destroy Honorbuddy.
