I like WOW, I like FF. WOW i have to log in, FF I do not. WOW take raiding 3 days a week, farm, grind the other 4. Ive worked more in WOW than my own job. The last good expansion was Mists, the WOW raids are very nice. I could care less about the story, hasnt made since past WotLK. WOW has LFR, Normal, Heroic and Mythic, I dont mind any of these as most are P2W and the toxicity comes from how many are judged on how far they got in Mythic and if you didnt clear it, you are a potato; also as in M+, try putting your alt thats 2k in a 15 nowadays, if you arent orange you wont get invited to anything lower than a 10, not to mention if you arent one of the FOTM MDI classes -sorry shadow priests and enhance shaman. FF has savage, extremes, ultimates - savage pretty simple 'heroic' version, extremes are done by guilds or organized players which equivalent to mythic I guess, and ultimate's are the 1%. So people saying that FF isnt hard baffles me and just want to argue and I question if they've played past lvl 50. FF has alot of its playerbase as casuals, which is true, they craft, make money, do mount runs, xmog runs, and the savage content, so if this is the 'easy' way then thats what they want to do so be it.Which is the better game decides on what you want to do, compete and be toxic - WOW is for you. Be casual and friendly - FF is for you.
COVID isn't an excuse, don't be delusional like the rest of the businesses in this world. It's not like you need to be physically near anyone to develope a digital product. Sure it's a hassle with moving hardware and making changes in the workflow/studio setup. But working from home should be more of a blessing for game devs. When I hear these excuses that Q&A are struggling because they can't use the office... I just laugh.
Have you looked at exactly what can get you punished in FF14? They have a strong policy angainst toxicity. People have always been toxic in WoW even in it's supposed 'golden years'. Remember the ICC patch? Yeah it was absolutely trash, according to the community at the time. Blizzard has always had a pretty light touch with policing the community and it's gotten worse in recent years because the lack of gamemasters. It has little/nothing to do with the state of the game. It has everything to do with what Blizzard allows and the competitive RTS community World of Warcraft's was built out of.
It's like living in a dystopia, everyone is forced to be not toxic than you get overly toxic positive. Humans are toxic to each other in varying degrees. You either cry over it or move on
Yeah, Shadowlands sat without tuning and content for too long. That was it's major problem. Blizzard listened to us more with this expac than they have with any other (except Cata, which really backfired in their faces especially when they took the community suggestions with healing and dungeon difficulty to heart). Could it have been more alt friend? Yeah, but that's a double edged sword too (another lesson from Cata). Dragonsoul was one of the most alt friendly patches ever, and people whined that they had nothing to do on their main. So, what happened? Welcome to MoP and the crap load of dailies to do so you don't have time for your alt. Yeah... they've been known for either listening to us too much or not enough. Hopefully they have learned some moderation.
I feel like a lot here doesn't understand why ff14 is less openly toxic. The ban hammer is WAAAAAYYYYY more present. They even updated their ToS lately so that people openly toxic in donjons / trials / raid / extreme are going to get banned. And three ban is good bye forever for your account no appeal possible.
Why not send it to everyone? Those are pre-filled questions; it wouldn't be that hard to sort through. They just don't want to hear the hard truth that between the lack of content, broken loot/Great Vault system, and busted game play in a number of instances it's really not appealing for anyone to stay and even join WoW.
My old job used surveys to gather data to create a better work environment. The only problem was the survey questions tip toed around the issues and never let the employees honestly voice how they feel. The end result was the upper management were able to say they are making strides and fixing things while the employees had nothing change for them. Blizzard isn't doing anything differently here.
