The original (and more common) story of Aphrodite is that she was born when Cronus cut the testicles off of Universe and threw them into the ocean. As told by Hesiod..
Forgot to post after I read this;Amazing writeup! I had seen alot of them, but it seemed alot of them escaped my eyes. :)

Holy necro o.0Not that I'm complaining. Never knew about this thread, fun to read though.
Though not a specific Northrend beast, Fenrus the Devourer is a reference to the wolf that the nordic gods kept in Valhalla, until it grew up and became frightening, even to the gods. They agreed that they had to chain the wolf. But no chain was strong enough, so the dwarves of Valhalla made a rope from the roots of the mountain, the noice of the cat, tendons of the bear, breath of the fishes, the beard of the women and the spit of the birds.Though the rope looked like a sting of silk, but no force in the world was strong enough to break it. They called the rope Gleipner. The wolf was suspicious, and thought there was some kind of magic involved in the thread. So he wouldn't allow the gods to tie him with it, unless someone put a hand in is mouth as an insurance. The only one brave enough was Tyr, son of Odin.He put his hand in the wolves mouth and the other tied the wolf with the thread. When Fenrir, the wolf, realized that he had been fooled, he bit of the hand of Tyr.And then Tyr's Hand was created in Eastern Plaguelands...!
