I'll add one final comment, everybody saying "We got lots of options, be happy with that" I direct you to go look at Nightborne, they have the absolute bare minimum. Now do you see why some people are upset? They barely touched on the entirety, hell I'm sure there are more than just those two I listed that are sorely lacking diverse options too, but seriously go through the Allied Races and look at their options and you'll find they're lacking big time compared to the rest. It would've been nice if they went the full whole hog with customisation as opposed to just a few races while the rest get maybe some eye color differences.Trust me, there's so many people on Reddit providing feedback, hell there's even people going in depth by providing options to the models themselves to give Blizzard some ideas but it's fallen on deaf ears.
I've cancelled my subscription over this. Blizzard isn't selling the product I want, and I'm not buying a product I don't want.
Next expansion. That's way, way too long. And they would monetise from these options; I wonder how many more players have unsubscribed now, because of this, which is basically a broken promise and an insult. They even had the nerve to tell us to come up with suggestions for what we'd like to see. Like there aren't hundreds, maybe thousands, of forum posts, YouTube videos, tweets and more, with written suggestions, drawn concept arts and even finished 3D models with the options people are suggesting. Adding to that, there are tons of NPC options readily available in game for player models. If Blizzard changes their mind about customisation options in Shadowlands, I might change my mind and resubscribe.
So I guess...no more planned customizations in Shadowlands = no more customizations ever? I certainly don't see that being said, but maybe I misread or overlooked something.
On the one hand, I think it was a cop out answer and reminded me of the updated Worgen/goblin debacle in 2018 when different people were asked and they each gave different answers, then for it to be announced they were coming in 8.2.5. While I feel it would be possible to do small amounts of customization like batches, I also know the community would be pissy if their race wasn't picked first. Its hard to determine how to go about it when the community gets very loud for not always the right reasons. I hope they do change their minds about customizations and maybe go about it with small updates instead of just a large batch with the start of an expac.
People really complain that customization is such a huuuge part of the game, but every race had like 5-10 face options, for what, 15 years? They give you a LOT of new stuff that I bet no one even thought about (like flower in hair for tauren, who would have seen that coming?) and it still is not enough? Sure, some races got more options, and some got less. Less played race = less options. Or do you really expect every single race to have equal amount of options? Because that is not likely to ever happen. Also, iirc, they made it clear they don't have any AR customization planned, at least for the time being. Yup, they advertised customization as a feature of the expansion, they have added a lot of new stuff at the launch, maybe they think they've done enough at the moment. Maybe, just maybe, they want to focus on next patches and deliver some better experience than last expansion offered? This is way more important than adding new hairstyles. I'm wondering if you all would be more happy if they just split all those options into two, three stages instead of adding them all at once. Also, all those people "quitting" because of this. Now think how many people have quit because of bad gameplay, RNG, boring class design or too much grind over the years - I think Blizzard is going to care more about these reasons and focus on fixing them. Those are the priorities. They have already added a lot of customization. There could always be more, but the truth is - the playerbase will never ever be happy, and they know it.
Good, alliance does not need copycat blood elves.
I just want my nightborne to not look like a wrinkled balding raisin...
Ah yes, the reason we can't add more customization for nightborne is because it requires testing assets. Never mind that the model for the Nightborne Heritage set has been broken since it launched over a full expansion ago. Clearly Blizzard considers character model customization QA to be a priority and that's why it's not pushing out new stuff.
